The trimmer should be in every homeowners tool kit. It is surprisingly lightweight but enormously effective. I use mine around gardens to keep grass from growing into gardens rather than using a weed wacker which throws clippings (and grass seeds) back into the garden. I have arthritis in my hands and shoulders but these clippers dont seem to cause any strain unlike a wees wacker does. Initially it was okay for thick weeds and stems. The blades of grass just folded between the two cutting surfaces. I tightened them slightly and they improved. I have tightened them once more and they are great. The two surfaces just have to wear against each other during break-in period. Don't over tighten!!! ... show more

I haven’t tried the longer hedge trimmer but the small attachment does a great job. Only issue is the battery life is too short! Only about half hour and it needs recharging but it does come with two.
