    • Heavy duty blades but thin handles
I really like the longer length of these garden shears so I don't have to get so close to the overgrowth. I live in an area with woods all around the perimeter of my yard, and I use these to cut back shoots (mostly blackberry) that would get in the way when trying to mow. There is also a lot of poison ivy covering the ground, and I can stay further away from it but still cut the thorny bushes away. The blades are very sharp and sturdy, cutting easily through the growth. The notch in the blade is very helpful for larger diameter branches. I can keep using this tool instead of having to switch to the pruners. The thin, lightweight handles don't seem to match the heavy duty blades. A thicker gauge metal would have held up better. Mine already have a dent in one of the handles. Also, I would have preferred the whole shaft be one piece, as opposed to screwing together. The padding is nice for extra grip and comfort. It's good that the pivot point is oiled up, but it seems they went a little overboard. The whole inside of the plastic blade sleeve is covered in oil, and there were oil spots all over the box, coming through to the outside. These are sharp and have a long reach but I found them maybe a tad bit too lightweight. I guess heft helps cut through thicker branches because these had a hard time with certain bushes unless I was using a lot of momentum. I also had a hard time keeping on handle screwed in tightly. I kept tightening it as far as I could and then after a few minutes of using them, it would loosen on its own. But they were able to help me quickly trim some hedges that usually takes me muuuuuuch longer with my other pair. ... show more

These shears are definitely sharp, lightweight, and have long reach. The blades are thick, robust steel. Time will tell on the handle longevity.

I was interested in these hedgeclippers since the description said they were lightweight and rust-proof. They are surprisingly lightweight for how long they are. They come with a snap-on cover that I imagine will keep them nice if you wipe them down before putting them back inside. I do like the notch feature as well for cutting thicker branches. Also, the handles have foam padding which makes them more comfortable for gripping as you are trimming your bushes. We shall see if they are indeed rust-proof at the end of the summer season. ... show more

These clippers are lightweight and easy to handle. I love the length of these clippers as it makes it easier for me to trim some overgrown shoots near the middle of my garden which is a large circular shape. These shears are great for trimming bushes, hedges and trimming stalks and shoots. These trimmers arrived well packaged and easy to assemble. All you have to do is assemble the handles to the grips and you are ready to start trimming to your hearts content. The blades are pretty sharp and easy to trim your bushes, hedges or other flower bed plants that need to be trimmed down.
