I cut for about 9 people consistently and have cut for about a dozen. I am not professional but have done home hairccuts for friends and family for over 10 years. (.. maybe 15 years) Men, women, young and old. I have learned from youtube and I think this is a skill most people can learn if they want to. I have purchased and used 4 shears from Amazon before this set- that is my knowledge base and comparison point. This is overall a good set. I would say a great set for a home haircutting setup. It is a complete setup and a great value. + The shears are perfectly sharp. I tested the shears and the thinning shears and both are perfectly sharp. + They both have a tension adjustment screw. (which is not standard screwdriver, but the tool is included- it's about the size of a quarter) This is vital for keeping that razor edge meeting perfectly for a clean cut. + The set has enough of everything needed to do complete haircuts with nothing else. There is a parting comb, and wide tooth and narrow tooth options. Cutting and thinning shears and even a cape. Very complete. + clips included for parting sections. They have very strong springs + The case is a small faux leather case about the size of a small pencil case. It holds the shears and combs well and keeps everything together and tidy. Great for doing cuts on the go or traveling too. - The only slight negative I find is that the cape is a tie on style and not a snap style. This give less adjustment specific sizing for fitting it well to the neck. + One positive is the cape is very lightweight and thin. I believe it would be more breathable than my current capes, and sometimes people have been too hot in the capes I have. It feels like this lets more air through, which is a nice value. As a stand alone the cape is maybe a 3 star product. It folds smaller without snaps but it's generally the weakest point in this set but a nice bonus still. If I had no other capes at home I wouldn't hesitate to use this one, but I think I prefer my others with snaps around the neck opening. I will say overall 5 stars because of the: sharp shears with a good tension adjustment system, the overall comprehensiveness of the contents, the carrying case to keep it all together, and the value of the bundle. I am in a remote/rural area and travel long distances regularly. There have been so many times when I am many hours from home and then someone says "oh I wish I had thought of asking you to bring things for a haircut" I plan to keep this in my glovebox and that way I will always have a set along and can be prepared to give a haircut anywhere any time.

My mother is a retired hairdresser, so I ordered this 12 piece hair cutting set so that she can trim my hair as needed. We both felt that cape was a bit thin, but the other items were pretty good quality for the price. It's a nifty little set that has all the essentials and would recommend it for personal use in the home. 2morrow approved!

There is a reason hairdressers spend sometimes thousands of dollars on a single pair of professional shears. They are precision manufactured, balanced, and meant to last a lifetime with good care. However, there are also good uses for a beginner's set. Maybe you have a person in your family who has just been accepted into cosmetology school, or you want to groom your pets occasionally or trim burrs out of their fur without incident. Maybe you want to trim your kid's hair at home, or perhaps you want to cut synthetic hair (wigs and extensions) and don't want to damage or ruin your good shears. The shears have a nice weight to them and are comfortable in the hand. The tang is well placed, and is not adjustable. The rainbow finish colors on these is a nice touch for a young person. You get, a haircutting cape with tie closure; a standard shears, a thinning shears, two combs, a dusting brush, a plastic double edged straight razor with guard, two clippies, a small strap of suede, an adjustment key, and a nice zippered case to keep it all in. Honestly, the quality is reflected in the price. The cutting cape is ultra thin, like a Halloween costume fabric, but the shears do cut, and overall it would make a complete little kit for a beginner or to keep at home. They say they are titanium plated, so maybe they will exceed my limited expectations. They arrived quickly and are accurately described by the seller. For that I will give them 5 stars.

The media could not be loaded. It is not 11 piece set, it is 12! Scissors are sharp. Not chipped, move smoothly, though do make a squeaky sound (see video). I did a man's haircut today and scissors work just fine. The case is very small and has holding straps only for three items - everything else is just loose in it. The cover will be thrown away - it left dark greasy residue on my fingers and it is very narrow (comparing to my other cover). So, for me the only useful thing in this set is scissors (straight), combs and clips. The case (holster) is small and the second pair of scissors doesn't fit properly, but it is possible to make it work.
