These are some pretty fun little speakers. It produces a sound when you turn it on like starting the engine of a car. The side lights up and it just looks like little headlights from a car. The sound coming from these were surprisingly loud. It’s as loud as my bookshelf speakers, but at 1/4 the size. You can see the driver shake when it plays high bass. The bass is great on these speakers. You can toggle between Gaming mode, Movie mode, and Music mode. The gaming mode is really awesome for games. Needed a new set for my gaming PC. The quality of these speakers amazes me. Totally in love with these because of the build quality and the looks. They are loud and the quality stays consistent from low to high. These are small but they are jamming out the power almost as well as my Yamaha speakers. The controls on the side are convenient and give a more clean look. This set is versatile and could be used anywhere else. They are not limited to just desktop, laptop, but can be used for TV or just anything connects to it VIA Bluetooth or AUX. They are small enough that I could carry them with me in my backpack. I can sit on my deck in the backyard and entertain friends. I’m totally in love with this Set. Totally worth the price. ... show more

Usually when I test speakers they're on the higher end of the price range, the likes of Bose and Bang & Olufsen, but I was in the mood to give a set of cheaper speakers a try as I currently have a dog running around my small apartment, and I don't want to keep expensive chewable stuff sitting around the place. To be honest I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm unfamiliar with the HECATE brand and the price is very reasonable so I set my expectations low, but the sound quality - and volume - here more than met them. Does the sound quality blow me away? No, but this is a very capable speaker set, especially given the diminutive size. Each speaker takes up the same desk real estate as maybe a couple of coffee mugs but puts out enough sound to fill a good sized room. The speakers come with three EQ presets: movie, music and gaming, each of them pretty good. I think the mids are a little stronger on the gaming setting, which is ideal for me while listening to podcasts as it makes for clear crisp speech. In the other presets the bass is respectable. Not enough to shake the walls by any measure, but enough that you don't feel you're missing out. I have to say I'm not a fan of the startup sound, and I don't like that whenever you change the mode a voice calls out at the same volume at which you're currently listening. I often use my speakers late at night while my wife tries to sleep in the room next door to my office, and I'd prefer that the speakers didn't yell out 'GAMING MODE!' before I remember to turn the volume down. All in all, at this price I'd happily recommend them. I've used better, but this is a good option for a reasonable price. ... show more

I am picky about my audio, so this was a surprisingly good quality pair of desk speakers at a sensible price point. The speakers sounded good for both pop, rock and classical (e.g., Brahms or Scarlatti, both dramatic and subtle), which was surprising. The Bluetooth implementation was adequate, but you can also attach an old school wired 3.5mm connection. You also get a USB direct digital connection if you want to rule out that type of loose cable connection. Cool but unimportant: There's an audio clip that's played when the thing boots up. You might think hokey after 100 times, but it's cool the first 10. Ditto the light effects, but OK, it's fun now and then to impress the . . . guys. What's a "gaming" speaker? I guess it goes with a "gaming" keyboard -- a style "thing." Not sure as I'm not in the subculture. I think the 32W is 16W RMS, but it's adequate unless you need to really crank the SPL. It won't get all that loud compared by my JBL bookshelf speakers, which cost several times as much. I know you're asking about bass . . . It's pretty good, considering the speaker size. You won't get subwoofer performance, and it's not very loud on bluetooth, but for other-folks-around use, it's plenty satisfying. *Recommended at this price point. ... show more
