Very much as advertised. Fairly large capacity (officially 4 cups, but that's full to the brim ... practically, can use to prepare a couple of cups of product). Heavy, with a rubber bottom (so it doesn't slip around or scratch the counter tops). Grooves cut into the stone helps food in place when hammering / grinding contents, but still very easy to clean. Used it numerous times for various tasks - grinding spices, making pesto, and guacamole. Looks nice sitting on the countertop, as well. Very pleased with the purchase.

We do a lot of freeze drying. Eggs, vegetables, milk, and much more. This is perfect for grinding the dried items into fine powder for subsequent hydration. It's quite heavy which means I can really get the circular motion going during grinding without fear of sliding or tipping things over. There are times I wish it was just a bit bigger but it would be too heavy to lift easily if it was. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I ordered this mortar and pestle, and it came in 2 days. Unfortunately, I only got the mortar and not the pestle. So, at this point it's useless. The mortar itself looks quite nice and solid. I'll update if and when customer service sends me a pestle, so I can actually use this thing and find out how it works. Edit: I luckily made an unboxing video when I got this, so I sent it to customer service. I got the mortar on Monday, and got the pestle on Saturday. It works well and is pretty solid. The packaging definitely needs improvement, though.

This makes the best pesto sauce I've ever made. Also great for grinding up spices for curry's etc. It's a nice size and heavy and adding the rubber mat to the bottom ensures it doesn't slip while in use.
