This is a surprisingly nice violin. It was playable out of the case, even the bow was rosined. But took it to a violin maker for a special setup because the pegs were loose. After spending about $200, when I got it back, it was far easier to play and the sound was improved. He lowered the strings, reamed the peg holes and refitted the pegs, moved the tailpiece forward 2mm, reset the sound post and did a few minor other adjustments. It is now even better. I know Kennedy violins does a basic setup that is adequate. Soloist Ray Chen tried all the violins on Amazon and thought this was the most playable and best sounding of all the student instruments, even the more expensive ones. I don't think you can go wrong with this. I have a bony collar bone and the shoulder rest didn't work for me so I got a BonMusica, which is wonderful, but then the chin rest was in the wrong position, so I have replaced that too. Sounds like a lot of nitpicking, but the total cost with all the extras and setup was well withing what I'd budgeted for a decent beginner violin. If you're going to learn this most challenging instrument, I think you need to make certain it perfectly set up. Best of all, both the violin maker and my music teacher like it too. She played it and found it sounded remarkably good. Not up to her $10,000 violin, but warm and very responsive. Lowering the strings is the upgrade I noticed most. Easy to stop the strings. The supplied strings are fine, but I put on Tonikas for an improved sound.

I have to say, I was very impressed with this product. It arrived, carefully packaged and the violin appeared undisturbed by the shipping process. The bridge was perfectly placed and the sound post did not shift at all. The violin was set very nicely. All I had to do was tune it, and I was playing in a matter of minutes. The accessories were a great value-add. The violin itself is great quality, with a wonderful sound. This violin, for the price, is a good value and the set-up service was phenomenal.

The quality of the build and tone of this violin are amazing. I got the clearance model, and I have yet to even locate the blemish on the body. It is loud, with a rich full tone. It has so many accessories, all of useful quality, geared towards the novice/intermediate in mind. I truly love this violin. Given the lifetime warranty and Kennedy Violins commitment to customer service, and that all the violins are handmade, I couldn't be happier.

I purchased the fiddle based on the reviews on the RB G1 from Kennedy Violins. I have not been disappointed. Received the Fiddle in great condition. Contacted Kennedy with a question about the bridge. Customer Service was outstanding. Answered my question. I gave my old fiddle to my granddaughter twelve years ago, it then became a violin for her. She still plays it today. I decided to take up the fiddle again. I'm 85 years old and still going strong, love life to the fullest. Love my fiddle.
