I have been using Head & Shoulders off and on to deal with periodic dry scalp issues since I was in high school (graduated in 98, that's a lotta years). At it's price point it is by far the best product line out there to deal with dry scalp & dandruff for my long, fine, wavy, frizzy & color treated hair. Original formula is pretty drying but this Royal Oils formula is amazing, very moisturizing. It also smells awesome - apply and bright. The shampoo lathers up really well (a personal fav of mine, I love thick lather) and rinses clean leaving hair smooth feeling - not tangled or straw like at all. The conditioner goes on thick & smooth - don't need a whole lot to feel the silkiness. I am able to comb it throughout my hair in the shower which I am not always able to do with other products. It washes out easily still leaving that silky feeling which I like a lot. My hair feels smooth and silky and after letting it air dry 1/2 way I could see it was much shiner and less frizzy. I used a blow drier and ceramic backed flat brush to blow out straight and the results were really good. My hair was shiny and healthy looking without any greasy buildup and my scalp is healthy with no flakes at all. ... show more

For reference, I have blond, fine, high density, low porosity hair. My curls are a choose your own adventure situation, with pieces ranging from 1 to 3B. My hair does best if treated like curly hair, recognizing the low porosity and adding any stylers when my hair is still sopping wet. Low-poo over no-poo. Before this started, I shampooed every 3 or 4 days, clarifying every few weeks. I had a bad reaction to a new shampoo about six months ago, and developed seborrheic dermatitis. I used a prescribed shampoo to get it under control, but hadn't found any alternative before this. All of the solutions that helped my scalp destroyed my hair - including the shampoo that my derm prescribed. I've tried a lot of options, and this is the first that has brought balance to both my hair and scalp. My scalp is healthy, and my hair is shiny and bouncy. I use this every other day, plus my derm shampoo every other week. I've been able to add back a leave-in and some gel (both blueberry bliss). This is a little heavy. I'm not sure how it will work once I have more hair that's not damaged by shampoos with salycic acid, coal tar, etc., and I'm back to low porosity. I definitely need to wash my hair after day two. Got this today for my daughters hair and I’m about to see what the hype is all about. I had been hearing about this brand under Head and Shoulders and wanted to try to see if it can help with her itch and flakes. I like how the shampoo and conditioner both smell. At this point I've given up on shampoos and conditioners. I have combination hair type due to being mixed race so I have a little bit of every texture in my hair. Top of my head being 3B and the crown being more 3C while the nape is 2C. I sleep on a satin pillowcase every night and i like to keep a low maintenance hair routine. I wash my hair every 3-4 days as my scalp gets really itchy due to grease (maybe?) while the remainder of my hair is crispy and dry. Its especially worse close to winter! I usually am scratching furiously by day 3 and have to shower to alleviate the itch. I've used other head and shoulders in the past because they can be more "heavy" on the hair compared to other store brands in the same price range. This version works great for me as it soothes my scalp longer so i can go without washing my hair for an extra day or two if I want.
