There are a decent set of calipers/divider. As a woodworker I'm finding a variety of uses for all three items where measurements between pieces need to be the same where actual imperial/metric numbers are irrelevant. Very often when repairing or replacing things in the house these calipers beat out "exact" measuring with a tape measure. All three items appear/feel well-made and robust. That tells me all will have long lives when treated with respect for any measuring too. My neighbor, and fellow woodworkers turns wood. He's finding them excellent and I'm not sure lending them to him for a short time was a wise choice on my part. Five stars.

These are actually much nicer than I thought they would be. The arms are almost 1/8 inch thick stainless steel and the spring is strong. The one aspect that I don’t like is that the threaded cylinders that hold the adjustment screws are swaged on, in a very loose fashion. Initially, I thought this might be by design, to keep the adjustment from being sticky, but the adjustment is sticky and I’m thinking that it may be because they’re so loose….. so a bug, not a feature. I thought they might be attached with threaded screws, that you could tighten up, but unfortunately, they just seem to be swaged on, so they can only be tightened up with a hammer. These are actually designed to be used on a wood lathe to be able to reproduce wooden parts. I have a metal lathe, but they are still very useful to quickly get to a rough size, before I start using micrometer for finished dimensions.

These calipers will be just fine for most wood working uses but I wouldn’t use them for precision machining. The tips do not line up and they are not ground the same on each side. The bends are not equal. The worst part about them is the machining of the slip bushings is not deburred so the calipers stick like crazy if you back the nut off and try to open them up. Two of the three are really bad and you may have to go back and forth with them ten times to get them to open as they hang up badly. Just poor quality control and trying to make parts too fast and cheap rather than making them good which is essential on precision tools. Price is good on them but I would rather pay a little more to get a good set if using for metal working. I own a machine shop and do wood turning on the side so it looks like these will get delegated to that rather than the shop…they do look nice and were close to having a good product they just cut corners where they shouldn’t be in the most critical areas.

This is a nice little set of calipers - both internal and external measure - and compass/divider for wood turning. The spring compressed adjustment allows you to make very precise alignments on your work pieces, and the adjustment screws stay locked in nicely. With expansion to 8 inches on the calipers, they are great for a wide variety of wood turning and measuring applications. These feel and operate much better than their price would suggest, and should outlast my use for them.

These seem well made, as far as durability goes. They are a nice size. But they don't seem real precise. The tips don't line up, as would be expected in a precise caliper set. Also, the threads on the adjuster were getting hung up as I tried to loosen it. That may get better as the threads or the opening wear a bit. They will work fine for the general measurements and comparisons that I'll be using them for, and the price was in line with this application. If you need calipers for precise work, you will likely want to spend quite a bit more for a very precise set.

These dividers work ok, but aren't the smoothest or nicest. The screws operate smoothly, but you have to wiggle the legs to get them to spread apart. There's a fair amount of side-to-side flex. It is a nice starter set that gives you enough to get started on, though, so I would recommend them for a beginner who needs a basic setup that will handle the basic tasks.

Very pleasantly surprised when these arrived! I wasn't expecting them to be as heavy as they are. They're easy to set the size, and they hold that size very well. They appear to be solid steel, (that's why they're heavy, i suppose) and a very sturdy build. I'm very pleased with this set
