  • Value rich
Another excellent optic from Discoveryopt!! My 2nd purchase from them, first was a 4-20x52mm ed-prs and I was very impressed by it so I bought another. The 5-30x56mm ed, both have excellent turrets with audible and tactile movements and track perfect. Glass is very clear but not quite as clear as the ED line but still very nice. It is a large optic and heavy but they are built like a tank!! I have put them through the paces and both are great. The eye box is a bit tight on the HD line but fully serviceable on a hunt or at home on the range or prs scene. Yes it’s made in China but this isn’t your el cheapo Chinese scope and I think Discoveryopt has hit a home run with these affordable optics that punch way beyond their price point!! ... show more

  • Excellent Budget Scope for The Money
DISCOVERYOPT has made some improvements over the earlier Gen-II models. Parallax adjustment is easier to manipulate, a zoom throw level has been introduced and while not mentioned in “What’s in the Box” they have included a set of tall scope rings so payback attention to this review and do not order (unless you want to) scope rings. Glass is fairly clear at max power 30x but still not as clear as scopes costing much more; but that’s why you’re considering this scope is features vs. price and for the price you’re getting a nice scope but not a great scope. ... show more

  • Decent optic for the money and solid warranty/ support. UPDATE
UPDATE - You may want to read the review first so this makes sense. I contacted Discovery to ask some questions about the reticle error and the zero shift (based on from which direction you dial to zero.) They responded quickly and put me in touch with one of their engineers who took a look at my data and determined that the reticle error was due to lens distortion. When holding over in the center section of the view, the error is very small (about 1% which is very acceptable to me) but as you get closer to the edge of the view the error grows. This is present on all scopes to some degree. They were concerned about the POI shift and wanted to examine the spring inside my unit. At no cost to me they sent me a new scope and paid for the return postage for mine. Communication was excellent and I truly appreciate the time from the technical team. Review: I purchased this to put on a .22 rifle. Out of the box I was quite impressed with the clarity, feel and features. After having used this quite a bit and doing some pretty extensive testing I have found some issues and identified some good points. Pros: Clarity - for the price the clarity on this scope is very good. I have viewed out to 1200 yards and was able to make out good levels of detail. Zero stop - Simple feature that works well. I set the zero stop .5 mils under zero so that you can have some adjustment for different ammo (big deal on 22lr). Turret operation - Positive clicks and large turrets. Reticle - Easy to read and make holdover corrections. (see cons for reticle also) Cons: The scope rings that come with it do not engage the picatinny rail correctly and at the rated torque spec are not straight on the rail. This resulted in a slight angle of the scope that resulted in only having 2 mils left on the turret to the right. I will try some better rings and update this review. UPDATE - The included rings have casting marks that create an offset on the rail (pictures included). This resulted in significant misalignment of the scope on the rifle. I purchased another mount and the scope zero was right in the middle of the windage range. NOTE: The rings that came with my new scope do not have the casting marks and do sit straight on the rail. Tracking - I did a box test at 50 yards (measured exactly from the muzzle) and elevation tracking was very good. 10 mils up resulted in the next group 18 inches above the first. Windage tracking did not do as well. As I said I was dialed far right to compensate for the angle of the scope so that may have played a role. Going back to zero at the end my group seemed to be about 0.1 mils under the original group. UPDATE - Testing after I installed on the new mount showed accurate turret tracking. I did notice that there may be some slop in the scope and you have to return to zero in the same direction each time or there is a small shift in POI (about .1 MIL) Set screws on turrets - setting the turret to zero is a very tedious process and maintaining a precise position is difficult. The design of the turrets on the ED scope look like a much better system. Numbers on Scope - This is a bit nitpicky but the numbers are quite a bit smaller than other scopes that I have and for older eyes may be hard to read. As a comparison my Bushnell Match Pro is very easy to read. Reticle accuracy. I tested the accuracy of the reticle at several magnifications and found that it had a max 4% error. Overall impressions, This is a lot of scope for the price, it provides a great deal of value. If you are planning on dialing the scope for corrections the tracking accuracy is spot on. If you are holding over you need to make sure you are staying in the middle section of the view or you will get some distortion. At most magnifications holding over less than 3 MILS is not an issue. My brother purchased the The ED series scope from Discovery and while I have not done any testing, it seems to have a better turret attachment system for the elevation turret, easier to read numbers and the magnification throw lever is a great add on. If you have never done any precision shooting or used this kind of scope, this unit is a great intro that won't break the bank and delivers a lot of value. ... show more

  • Amazing bargain!
Style: HD GEN-II 5-30x56 MOA
Excellent scope. This compares with others that cost 10x the price. I love everything about it. I have a telescope made by the same company and I love that too.

  • Excellent optics for the price
I ordered this after reading many reviews. I was going to mount it on a 22 ARC bolt rifle I'm putting together. But It's waayyy overkill, at least for this particular rifle. It is a monster!! I was going to return it but the optics are so clear and the reticle is so good I decided to keep it for my next build, a 6MM Creedmoor, it'll be perfect. My Nephew is a big Nightforce guy, he can afford it so why not? Me, my budget is limited, so I'm always looking for bargains. We compared it with a NightForce NX8 Scope, 4-32X50mm my nephew has mounted on a custom 6MM AI he built. While the Discovery was not quite up to the Nightforce in clarity at full power he was still impressed, and when I told him the price he was speechless for about 10 seconds, after which he said "You're kidding, right"! The next thing I knew he had one on his 243 beater "truck" rifle. That says something about the build quality. Yeah, it's not in the Nightforce, Leopold, or Vortex Razor class, but at almost $2,000 cheaper it's a "no-brainer". ... show more

  • Very nice scope
I bought this to mount on my 6.5 cm rifle, had it sighted in 3 shots at 100 yards. Put 30 rounds down the tube and the scope is accurate, the glass is very clean and clear even up to 30x the reticle is a very nice fine cross hair with a center target dot. I didn't use the illumination yet but did turn it on and it works. The side focus is accurate and easy to use. This is a rather large scope but that's what I wanted. I shoot 1k yard and will have it out there soon. Just an FYI this is measured in mrad and not moa. ... show more

  • Quality scope for the money
Very clear glass, like a vortex or nightforce, the turrets are crisp and tactile with loud clicks. It is a heavy scope but the clarity more than makes up for it
