Unleashing the Beast: Our Review of the ATN Thor 4 Thermal Scope

    • Scope

Perfect thermal

    • This is expensive garbage
Size: 384 4.5-18x
I'll start with the onlyu 5 words you really need to hear- Don't buy one of these. I have one that I've used twice and it's already pulling the same crap that a lot of people complain about- it's locked up on a screen and there's nothing I can do about it.Pushing buttons does nothing, I can't take the batteries out, there is no reset button to push. Nothing. The only thing I can do is wait 16 hours for the battery to drain and then hope it works after I recharge it. If I had been on a hunting trip when it pulled this, the trip would have been over before it even began. But then, of course, there's the reality that almost no state in the country will let you use thermal or IR scopes to hunt anything but nuisance animals like coyotes. You can't use them in the day or night. Even if this did work it would still be almost completely useless because there's nothing you can do with it. If you want to get some target practice in with a thermal scope then you need to spend 20 bucks a pop for thermal targets. And of course, it'll illegal most places to shoot at night, so that's off the menu. I really kick myself for buying this useless garbage. Now I'm stuck with this trash ... show more

    • ATN Thor
Size: 384 4.5-18x
Have owned previous X-Sight II , ATN 4k, and now Thor 4. All have worked flawlessly and the upgrade to thermal was long overdue. Super impressed with image quality and no need to buy anymore CR123's with the longevity of the internal battery.

    • POS ! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
Size: 384 4.5-18x
I Got the Thor 4 on April 20th , got it zeroed on the 22nd. Was able to get out the night of the 22nd and do some pest control. The scope was working fine. Due to weather I wasn't able to get out till last night the 26th. I put my Pcp in the tripod turn the scope on I get nothing but a white screen. None of the controls would work I wasn't able to power it down. When I got this I did everything by the book. Made sure firmware was up to date. Fully charged everything. This thing is a huge POS! I should have gone with the AGM Adder ! Not to mention when you use the Obsidian 4 app with this and use the view finder, the longer you use it the longer the lag time. I was up to 30 seconds of lag time at one point . Never had that issue with xsight 4k. My advise is save your money up and get a descent thermal scope and stay away from ATNs thermals Now I'm out a scope and money for the next 30 days or so due to Amazon return policy. ... show more

Size: 384 4.5-18x
Recieved the scope, did a firmware update and the scope still didn't work. Started a Return. Boxed up the scope and sent it back UPS. Amazon recieved it a few days later but said it will take 2 weeks for a refund. I am now 2 weeks out and Amazon has changed their Returns page to show it was recieved yesterday and won't be refunded until April 3 (another 2 weeks). Amazon is turning into Walmart quality with the Walmart runaround. ... show more

    • Not the top of the line scope
Size: 384 4.5-18x
I saw the great reviews on this scope so I decided to purchase it. It worked great for a week then it was dead. Right after my last hunt I turned off the scope to store it away. The next day I was going hunting and tried to turn it on and it didn't come on. I thought that It may have gotten left on so the battery might be dead. I plugged in the scope to charge over night but it never charged and the next day it still didn't turn on. I also tried to pair it with my phone to see the pictures and I had no luck at all. I would not buy this scope again. So you pay over 3 thousand for a scope with a three year warranty. So you're really paying to use the scope for a thousand bucks a year. You really need a good reason to have one of these for that much money a year, high volume hunting. The range finder wasn't that accurate and it was good for about 130 yards in visible site. Forget it of your going to use this in the daytime, you cant see anything even if you turn up the brightness all the way. ... show more
