    • A DECENT STEPLADDER FOR THE MONEY, BUT WITH SOME DRAWBACKS

I was looking for a new, taller stepladder, to replace one I had used for years (one that was only a 3-step with a 32" top step. I needed one to go higher than that). This one is of decent quality, although it's very lightweight, probably because the tubular construction seems a little on the "non heavy-duty" side; that is, I would have expected the tubular construction to be of a bit heavier-duty construction. The fact that it is rated at 330 lbs. load capacity is surprising, as I weigh in the 230 lb. range, and the non-slip steps appear to bend quite a bit under my weight. Also, while the lightweight tool pouch that is included is an OK "plus", what I really miss is having the fold-down paint can tray near the top, such as my original one had. It seems like a big oversight to not include such a tray, since a stepladder like this could also be used for light house painting jobs, and having a handy platform to set your paint can down on is always a plus. Lastly, the ladder comes with two vertical "handrail" bars, ostensibly used to assist the user in more safely ascending up and going back down. The big drawback to these bars is that they are designed to be permanently mounted, and therefore stick out about 8" on each side... which makes the concept of storing this unit into a narrow space impossible. Seems to me that some kind of pivoting, locking mechanism could have been used instead, to give the ladder better storage capabilities in a much tighter space. (This is why I decided to NOT install those two pieces, since I only had about a 3"-wide space between my workbench and some shelving, to store this thing). With those "oversights" noted, however, I do like the fact that it can get me up much higher than my old one... which is what I was shooting for in the first place! ... show more

    • Really Nice, But They Could Be Packed Better

I've had this for about a month now and I've used it several times. I really like it. It's surprisingly light weight, but it feels very sturdy and stable. I really like that it has the handles on the side, the top bar that you can lean against, and the tool bag that fits over that top bar. It also folds fairly flat, though the side rails do make it a little bit thicker than some. I personally think the extra safety that those side rails provide far outweighs the slight additional depth that it takes up when folded, though. I also think that though it wasn't the cheapest, it was reasonably priced and any extra I spent on it vs. it's competitors without rails was far less than it would cost me if I fell off one of the others without the side rails and broke something. It was an excellent value as far as I'm concerned. The only issue that I had with it was that the first one I bought wouldn't sit flat on the floor. I wobbled. I ordered a second one and that one was fine, though. Other than that, it's been great & I would definitely purchase it again. I've also recommended it to several of my family members. ... show more

I very rarely will give a review but this is obe of those exceptions. I recently purchased a house and needed a step stool but also a smaller ladder. This fit both! What I didn't know was that when I assembled it on Saturday I was going to need it as "emergency" on Monday when all 6 of the fire alarms went off! I grabbed this ladder and moved quickly and confidently from one to the next. Was so happy I had this!! Feeling even better about the purchase after experiencing the quality and sturdy build. Also let me add, I am close to the weight restriction and I have 14 ft ceilings so even more kudos for a well built step up! ... show more

Being 81 years old and finding my old aluminum ladder was now too heavy and hard to move around. Tried a regular step stool, but felt very unsteady, so I decided to look for something more appropriate. The 4 step High Tower Step Ladder has handrails on the side of the ladder as well as at the top of the ladder to make it extremely solid and safe. Putting it together (installing the 3 handrails) was extremely easy (for me alone) as all of the screw holes matched exactly. Would highly recommend this ladder. ... show more

This step stool meets my needs. It's light enough for me to carry from place to place, even up the stairs, but it still feels sturdy. I can reach many places that were previously out of reach for me. (I'm 5'3"). The only assembly needed was to attached the handrails and that was easy. It goes more smoothly to have two people so one can hold the handle in place while the other lines up the bolts that hold the handles in place, but I was able to get it done by myself. ... show more

Falls at any age can be pretty awful. However, if one is over the age of 70, a fall can be life changing and I qualify for that hazard. This stepladder is perfect for keeping me from crumpling to the floor with broken bones. It's tall enough to reach my highest cabinets, strong enough to hold me, and, most importantly, the handrails on each side keep me stable. Assembly was easy. This is easily the most stable step-ladder I've ever used, and it's tall enough to reach my roof. It's so stable that I ran a small chainsaw today while standing on the third step. It takes a touch more room to store than a typical ladder (because of the hand-rails), but that's a fair trade-off.
