I have a smaller pool... with the 400 btu I am increasing temp by 3-5 degrees an hour... So I can turn on just a few hours before we want to swim.... No overnight heating needed. I did have to install a special gas line just for it out of advice from my propane company. But it was worth it!

Purchased this in April 2024. In August it read an error number which we googled and it said the board needed to be replaced. I reached out to the seller and I received a response saying to contact the manufacturer. I just ordered a board for $350 from Amazon.     • Known Defective Product. No Real Customer Support

Product was received and installed by me. Simple enough; two water connects, a single gas connection, and single power connection. The unit would not get through it's start check, insufficient pressure from the blower. Call to Hayward tech/customer support was worthless. Would not tell me pressure/setting required or anything else. Only response was to "call authorized dealer". That tech came out, stated quickly that he'd seen a rash of bad blowers on new units lately and would have to order one. Obviously this is a known quality issue. He also stated the blower was affecting thr control electronics and display through the ground. Two service calls, > one month delay and $290 more was needed to correct a quality control issue on a new unit. If Hatward isn't going to stand behind their products and only recommend "call a service center" for an obviously defective product , they shouldn't be sold here. ... show more

Always used and liked Hayward products. Unfortunately, I didn't read description closely. My previous pool heater had an integrated programmable timer for heater and pump. This product does not have one and I'll have to install a programmable timer on my power source.

We went from a hayward 100,000 BTU to this 400,000 BTU and love it. The pool is just over 7000 gallons and we can heat on a cool day over 5 degrees per hour. Make sure you have a high propane flow regulator.
