Just finished assembling the full over full grey with two drawers option. Took me 7 hours while moving at a moderate, consistent pace, and I'm fairly experienced with these things. The people that claimed to put it together in 1-2 hours must be like those people that work for Nascar that can take off and put on four new tires in 8 seconds. Approximately 2 of the hours were spent dealing with and working around manufacturer issues. Holes not lining up at all. No pilot holes for some small screws. No large holes at all for large bolts, etc. There were a few instances where I had to improvise and make my own holes and use my own screws. If you don't feel comfortable making small improvisations, such as drilling pilot holes for alternative screw positions, I'd recommend getting something else. Also, if you don't have a power drill, now is the time to invest in one. Get some hex bits, as well as the traditional bits. For this project alone it'll save you a few hours. I would have lost my mind if I had to use the provided hex wrench to assemble this whole thing. There are approximately 200 screws in total. I was able to assemble the entire thing myself without any help, except for a step where both the upper and lower part are assembled separately and you need to pick up the upper part and set it on top of the lower. However, with some modification to the instructions, I can imagine it being possible to install the top bed on top of the lower portion, rather than separately. One of the nice things about this bed is the ~3.1 inch spacing between the 14 slats per bed. Almost every other bunk bed, even those at popular furniture chains, only have like 8 slats per bed, each spaced 6-7 inches apart, which is not appropriate for mattresses that you don't intend use with a box spring (and you can't really use them with bunk beds, there's no room) - mattresses in these cases aren't supported well and also won't properly support your kids. But with this bed and only a few others out there that have proper 3 inch spacing, this isn't a problem at all. The height from the top bed slats to the side rail comes at ~11.75 inches. Using a 10 inch mattress is really pushing it, as you'll only have less than 2 inches of the rail to stop your child from falling off. I'd only use a 10 inch mattress for a child that has a great proven track record of not falling off the bed at night. Otherwise I'd stick to 8 inches. 9 inches would be okay, but 9 inch firm spring mattresses are hard to find. You aren't supposed to use memory foam and plush mattresses with your children, as they don't offer the proper support for their growing bodies. A 6 inch mattress, I feel, would be too shallow. Altogether, fairly great value, despite the assembly challenges that took a bit of added time. ... show more

    • Buy an electric drill before buying

This bed is great for the price. We had some issues with pieces and drill holes. The bed is pretty sturdy for our children now. We bought a 5” mattress for the top as we have young children and wanted the rail to be higher for our active sleeper. Looks great. The draws could improved as they are not on a track so they tend to move around. The assembly was not easy. Due to smaller drill holes it was a hassle. Now if you have an electric drill may shave off some time. However like many before stated it took about 10 hrs for one person to do a a screwdriver as instructions stated. If we knew about the holes would’ve bought an electric drill as well. All this to say, we reached out to the seller and they were amazing and sent new pieces for the ones that were missing. ... show more

Just don’t do it. I guess for the price it’s probably exactly what you pay for, save your money and spend a little more. It’s incredibly thin and came used looking already. No plugs or even stickers to hide screw holes. It’s not good, the slats for the box spring are incredibly rough and also thin. I’m sure we’ll need to replace this sooner than later. ... show more

This is a solid piece of furniture. It did not take me long to put together at all (get a friend to help, it will make your life so much easier) HOWEVER, the instructions are pictures only, the bags of hardware are not clearly labeled and multiple parts are mixed in together, making it harder than it should be by guessing what goes where. Lastly, and most importantly there are multiple scrapes and scuffs all over right out of the box. That was pretty disappointing- especially the thought of getting it all back into a box and schleping it to UPS for a return. ... show more

There are a million parts to this bed. But it was worth the build. Its is space saving especially with the drawers underneath. Fairly sturdy, not made with flimsy wood. Great buy for the price.and I was able to build half of it by myself. However it is a two person job. Instructions were very easy to read. We also got 8 inch memory foam mattresses to go with. They fit well and the boys love it. Update: we still love this bed. And it's held up really well with two rambunctious boys. The drawers aren't our favorite. And trash and stuff collects behind them. But still love the frame. 2nd image is a year later ... show more

We bought this bed to transition our toddler from the crib to a big boy bed and it is perfect! The fact that this can be split into 2 separate beds is a great option for when onr 2nd baby is old enough to move out of the crib. Definitely saving money! The quality of the wood is great.
