Just finished assembling the full over full grey with two drawers option. Took me 7 hours while moving at a moderate, consistent pace, and I'm fairly experienced with these things. The people that claimed to put it together in 1-2 hours must be like those people that work for Nascar that can take off and put on four new tires in 8 seconds. Approximately 2 of the hours were spent dealing with and working around manufacturer issues. Holes not lining up at all. No pilot holes for some small screws. No large holes at all for large bolts, etc. There were a few instances where I had to improvise and make my own holes and use my own screws. If you don't feel comfortable making small improvisations, such as drilling pilot holes for alternative screw positions, I'd recommend getting something else. Also, if you don't have a power drill, now is the time to invest in one. Get some hex bits, as well as the traditional bits. For this project alone it'll save you a few hours. I would have lost my mind if I had to use the provided hex wrench to assemble this whole thing. There are approximately 200 screws in total. I was able to assemble the entire thing myself without any help, except for a step where both the upper and lower part are assembled separately and you need to pick up the upper part and set it on top of the lower. However, with some modification to the instructions, I can imagine it being possible to install the top bed on top of the lower portion, rather than separately. One of the nice things about this bed is the ~3.1 inch spacing between the 14 slats per bed. Almost every other bunk bed, even those at popular furniture chains, only have like 8 slats per bed, each spaced 6-7 inches apart, which is not appropriate for mattresses that you don't intend use with a box spring (and you can't really use them with bunk beds, there's no room) - mattresses in these cases aren't supported well and also won't properly support your kids. But with this bed and only a few others out there that have proper 3 inch spacing, this isn't a problem at all. The height from the top bed slats to the side rail comes at ~11.75 inches. Using a 10 inch mattress is really pushing it, as you'll only have less than 2 inches of the rail to stop your child from falling off. I'd only use a 10 inch mattress for a child that has a great proven track record of not falling off the bed at night. Otherwise I'd stick to 8 inches. 9 inches would be okay, but 9 inch firm spring mattresses are hard to find. You aren't supposed to use memory foam and plush mattresses with your children, as they don't offer the proper support for their growing bodies. A 6 inch mattress, I feel, would be too shallow. Good bargain price, but you get what you paid for. The wood is soft and scratches easily, in fact a few pieces arrived with unsightly scratches, and dents in it. This makes it impractical for a kid's bunk bed since kids are rough on furniture. See pics. The biggest draw for me, aside from price, was that this bunk bed was supposed to be wood. While most of the structure is wood there is a couple of pieces that do support weight that are flimpsy fiberboard which is a bit concerning, and not actually wood as advertised. This is disappointing. Echoing what other's have said, the instructions are all illustrations, with very little writing making it very difficult to follow. All in all it's still a good price, and from a distance, the bunk bed looks good, just don't look too closely. I think if buying for young kids, it should be fine, but I wouldn't put two adults in this bunk bed, there's a 200lb weight limit. Unclear if that's per bed or total, but structurally it won't hold two adults. ... show more

There are a million parts to this bed. But it was worth the build. Its is space saving especially with the drawers underneath. Fairly sturdy, not made with flimsy wood. Great buy for the price.and I was able to build half of it by myself. However it is a two person job. Instructions were very easy to read. We also got 8 inch memory foam mattresses to go with. They fit well and the boys love it. Update: we still love this bed. And it's held up really well with two rambunctious boys. The drawers aren't our favorite. And trash and stuff collects behind them. Super disappointed, the bed is cute but the bottom drawers came cracked and when I tried to contact for a replacement the only option is refund/return it.. so now I’m stuck with the bed and two broken drawers.
