I did add some plywood to each platform. Over all this is a very good product. It is light weight wood but sturdy construction with dowels. Only one error in directions. (Both posts for upper bunk pins were said to go on end of the same side. The correction is: One goes on one side of one end and the other goes on opposite side of other end.) Got this for our grandkids. First off, comes in three boxes, each weighing nearly 100 pounds. The FedEx delivery man would not carry them up the front stairs of the house. I’m a small person and dragging these up 12 stairs was a nightmare. Once inside, I followed the instruction (which can be confusing) for right sided stairs. Had to take apart much of the upper bunk and stair rails twice as the parts were mislabeled (if the labels even were still on the parts). After a week, it is still not complete as I cannot figure out how to assemble the stairs. Needs better instructions. ... show more

Update: Have had this bed for a while now. About 4 to 6 months or longer. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty bed. It is just not made strong. The support wood legs that hold the bunk bed up have already stripped on the bed and now we are having to use our own wood to support it and build a support. Our family grew fast. We ordered this bed. It arrived two separate days and was Missing a few screws. Some of the bed poles for stacking are too tall so the twin bed is suspended instead of flush to the full bed. Creaks a lot going up and down. Some screws won’t stay the screw out the twin. And please buy drill bits to fit the screws. The key turning would make this built takes days. I contacted seller buy no response (maybe because of the COVID-19 but still) Never again. ... show more

Relatively easy to assemble. Didn't take longer than 3-4 hours. Pay attention to: 1. Top headboard pieces for the full bed so that the peg holes are aligned on the same side so the twin can be placed in on top. We forgot to and had to untighten one side to flip. Not serious but a nuisance. 2. Side frames of the beds where the bed rests on. Make sure the twin has the same slotted ones bc there are pre-drilled holes for a cross panel with small wood pegs to be inserted in the center. Recommend using a power drill then hand tighten screws for the last bit to secure the base planks for mattresses to sit on. Speeds things up significantly. Overall for the price, the lower quality wood material is to be expected. Noticed some cracks in some pieces of wood as mentioned by others. When I was peeling off a sticker label, I indented the wood with my own finger. It feels sturdy for a toddler. We don't anticipate him jumping on top bunk bc his head is close to ceiling when standing. He's 40lbs. Overall height is good, not too tall and daunting for a 4yr old to climb and mom(5'3) can reach from floor. We purchased a 5 inch twin mattress; it allows for good vertical space for him not to roll off the sides. Our son moves all over when sleeping! He loves it and it allows for more space in the room especially if family can come visit. ... show more
