This was a great purchase and I'm so glad I ordered it to help with a flooring project. The ceramic tiles in a portion of our home were over 40 years old and cracking in many places. It wasn't safe. Before I could lay down some vinyl plank flooring, I needed to rip the old tiles up. I had a long-handle heavy-duty metal chisel that was great at separating the tiles from the floor but it left a very bumpy and uneven layer of thinset which needed to be removed and smoothed out. This tool did the job great. It was very easily fit to my Skil Pwrcore Angle Grinder and was very easy to use on the wooden subflooring. I did need to purchase an adapter to get the vacuum attachment to fit the hose for my shop vac but other than that, I had absolutely zero issues with this product and would easily recommend it to someone needing it for the same purpose.

The instructions are so vague as to be useless. I tried to follow the instructions but no matter what I did, it would not seat securely to my Metabo. It ended up at a slight angle that eventually melted the inner ring of the shroud, causing the door mechanism to melt into a permanent open position in just 5 minutes of grinding. This definitely could be user error, but instructions that made sense with better diagrams (they're TINY and not clearly labelled!) would have helped a lot. UPDATE: The seller reached out and refunded me, which saved me a trip to return it. I appreciate this and have raised my review rating. After further researching other dust shroud products (some of which helpfully include pictures of compatible grinder measurement ranges), I believe that there aren't any good options for the Metabo G12SR4 - the part of the shaft where the shrouds must connect is too short to offer a stable connection, which eventually caused the melting issue I experienced. I eventually jury-rigged a stable connection using Instamorph moldable plastic and string. If I were to do this all over again, I'd just buy a different angle grinder :(

If all things fit together, this does a great job, but all things don’t always fit together. For one, the shims for the collar to allow it to fit a wide variety of angle grinders doesn’t allow for the collar to fit tightly enough. The shroud has popped down while in use a few times. Then, depending on the disk being used, the shroud all together might be useless as it might sit too high or too low for the shroud to work effectively. And then there’s the vacuum port, which doesn’t fit the most common vacuums out there, a ridgid from hd. I ended up having to tape the hose to the shroud for it to connect.

The dust shroud itself seems well built but Why Can't they include shop vac attachments that actually fit the standard shop vac???? They include one small attachment that does absolutely nothing and doesn't fit a typical shop vac hose. Somebody could probably make a fortune by developing an attachment package that would easily fit a variety of shop vacs and alleviate a problem that shouldn't even be a problem!!! Shame on you Hardell~~~get you act together and help your consumers with something that works and works easily!!!! I have fortunately figured out something that works REALLY WELL. Went to Lowes and picked up a Fernco PVC flexible coupling. They come with the clamps, so you're set to go!!! No leaks, no falling apart....just a totally solid connection. $6 and you're set to go!!! Now why can't this coupling be included with the purchase alleviating any and all issues with connecting your shop vac to the dust shroud!!!! Give it a try I'm sure you'll agree.....

This seems sturdy. I had to tweak the clamp ring nut to get it to fit my grinder collar even with the adapters. You must use a cup type grinder disk to clear the front plastic lip. I shimmed a flat type dist but only had a couple threads left to attached it. Even then it rubbed the plastic and melted it some. It did a good job sucking the dust. The nozzle fit my Kuboda 4 gallon vac perfectly. The kubota though is a weird size since it doesn't fit my other vacs.
