I chose this as an alternative to the Squarehood version for the x100v. I think it’s much more reasonable in price and it looks good on the camera to enhance the already retro look that a rangefinder provides. It’s easy enough to install, but I’m not a huge fan of needing to screw the hood on because there’s no real stop point like you have with most of today’s lenses. You’ll need to get it in just the right position to be level, so I actually used a level to make sure it wasn’t crooked. It doesn’t move easily at that point, fortunately, because of the rubber gasket that comes with it. One thing to keep in mind with this lens hood is if you use the optical viewfinder, you’re going to have part of your hood in your view, so it might make sense to switch to the electronic viewfinder to help with your composition (or if you just find having the hood in the way of the OVF is annoying). It does what it’s supposed to do, especially with absorbing any stray light with the dark part of the hood. If you’re not already familiar with the x100v, to make it truly weather-sealed, you need to have a filter attached to the lens, so don’t forget that part, but you won’t even notice the filter unless you look very closely because of the nice craftsmanship of the hood.

Like other aftermarket accessories this is not a perfect fit. It's not only difficult to get the hood/filter combo perpendicular to the camera body but it comes loose all the time! Not to mention the hood cap is also super loose and ready to fall off anytime, and when it does it makes a lot of noise. Metal cap seems nice at first but paint peels off fast and a plastic hood that would fit better/save weight would be indistinguishable. Original Fuji magnetic cap has a much better feel and fit pity it's not weatherproof!

Very happy with this. I’m new to fujifilm/adapter rings but I was able to install it pretty easily. I love the metal finishes. Seems very sturdy and I would be surprised if it didn’t hold up!

Bought this hood expecting the 49mm adapter to adapt to my camera. It didn't. So I bought a step up ring to 49mm so it would fit. It didn't. It's advertised as a 49mm lens hood for Fujifilm cameras, but it won't work on my Fuji camera, or screw on to a 49mm ring. Waste of time and money.

Looks great and works like a charm to stop flares. Also the build construction is real nice. I love how easily it screws on and it seems to go on tightly enough to where you can turn it just a bit more or less to get it square to the body of the cam and still have a nice secure fit. Good stuff!
