If you’re looking for premium, super soft shorts—look elsewhere. The material leaves a lot to be desired. They feel like the rough cotton material of a free promotional T-shirt. Not soft upon arrival, but hopefully they’ll soften after a few washes. However.. they ARE still comfortable. I am 5’11”, 158lbs (usually waist size 32) and I ordered medium. The waistband is not loose, but not too tight. It’s just right. The length is a little shorter than I usually prefer (it’s just above the knee), but they’re fine. Not knowing the difference, I bought all three: this Hanes short, along with a Fruit of the Loom, and a Soffee - just to find out which was best. All three are very similar. I bought a size smaller than I would for pants due to the stretchy waistband. I like the fit on all 3 very much and am glad I went smaller! I don't like baggy stuff. The Hanes is certainly acceptable, but I preferred the Fruit of the Loom for deeper pockets, and the Soffee for both deeper pockets and a more sturdy fabric. All three are fine for lounging or gym work.

Very basic, simple black gym shorts. Pockets are perfect and well sized and fit what I need when I workout, which is cell phone and inhaler. Otherwise pockets are unobtrusive. Fits nicely and the waist band does not interfere. Color does not run in the laundry, even when washed in whites or lights. Breathes well during light and intense workouts. Also functions good as a backup bathing suit, although I haven't tested it in salt water, only fresh water. Stitching is well done and has not frayed after 2 weeks of use and washing. Price is exceptional. I outfitted myself and my two boys for $15. If they last 6 months I will have gotten my money's worth. I bundled these items with a larger order so my shipping was free. Very pleased with packaging. Came in single, light plastic bag - no super strong shrink wrapped bags generating lots of excess trash. Warning - the plastic bags tear easily and are no good for toddlers or small children. There are no tags on the shorts, so if you want to return them, be careful in that regard. If you are looking for basic black gym shorts that are neither too long nor too short, this is your model. No branding means they are compliant with nearly any school dress code. Basic pockets enable carrying essentials. I did not see metal eyelets (which is good), so they should be ok for hospital, doctor visits, and MRI/CT, however please ensure you check with the provider first to prevent problems. I have no hesitation giving this product 5 stars.

These inexpensive shorts aren't fantastic by any means, but are exactly as expected -- which isn't always the case nowadays! The fabric is just on the tolerable side of thin and reedy. The number of threads hanging loose isn't too high. The pockets are sufficiently large. The shorts fit which, in my case, means I can order a size or two smaller than today's norm so I can approximate my favorite shorts from the '70s and '80s...and NOT the basketball / capri / flood shorts everyone seems to wear today. Short legs demand short shorts! When I have a moment and I'm sufficiently motivated I hem these so they have a 5-inch inseam. After sampling a single pair, I just bought six more.

Regarding the seeming discrepancies in the fabric makeup, for some reason these Hanes shorts use different fabrics depending on the color. Your best bet is to check them out on the Hanes website to confirm what you will be getting. I bought the Camo Green Heather. This color is 50/50 cotton/polyester. There is no pattern on them, so I don't know where the "camo" comes from; I would characterize it as dark olive heather--olive with a touch of gray. The fabric is quite lightweight and the pockets are somewhat shallow. I'm OK with all this as I just wear shorts like this around the house in warm weather and for sleep shorts. Normally I wouldn't wear shorts like this out & about because they are so lightweight, but that's just me. I think they're a good value for the $7.00 price. I'll probably order a couple more.

I have a 52 inches hip, so according to the size chart I'm a 3XL and what I received was ridiculously big, oversized for me; the shorts used an drawstring closure which regulates size by pulling out, after I pulled the lace all the way out, the shorts felt right at the edge, I'm guessing with a few washes it will loosen and I'll have to get a tailor to fix it, which is ridiculous for and item with such a low price. I was planning to return the 5 shorts I bought to buy a smaller size but them I thought “what am I supposed to get? An XL, an L? What if I received something now to small? What's the range they use between sizes? Because I'm guessing anything from 3XL to 6XL is the exact same item. Not cool. Besides you can tell this is a different model because what I received is not exactly as shown in the picture, my product looks more like old fashioned gym class shorts with definitely some polyester, this isn't all cotton as the tag claims, honestly that doesn't bother me because I'm wearing them to stay at home but other buyers beware.
