My six-year-old ripped the hem of his superhero cape right before we were heading out the door for a party. I really didn't want to drag the big machine out of the closet and thread the whole thing just for a two-inch fix. I grabbed this handheld one from the kitchen drawer instead.It’s lightweight, kind of like holding a stapler. I didn't even take the cape off him; I just had him stand still while I ran a quick stitch along the bottom. It handled the thin, slippery polyester material fine, though you have to keep the fabric taut. It comes with a few bobbins, but the black thread it came with blended in well enough. It’s not going to replace a real machine for making a quilt, but for a ten-second patch job on a Friday night, it worked.
