This little machine is good for the price. It is not something that I would get for a beginner sewist. I am a seamstress and this is perfect for a quick hem while I am visiting family in another state. It is louder than my brother machine at home. The stitch will easily pull out if you don't tie it off properly. The instructions are not very clear on threading the machine. The needle does not pull up very high making it difficult to get some material under it and very difficult to sew over seams. So, if you are looking for something easy to use for a beginner, this is not it. I do not suggest any handheld as a beginner. Get a smaller full size for a beginner to get to know how a sewing machine works before getting a small handheld. If you are wanting a small handheld for easy travel to do very simple stitches in thin material, this is perfect! It will add a quick hem to garments, it can make a seam on fabrics, and it can attach material to thin items. It does not perform miracles, but it will get the small jobs done. I added a picture of how it is threaded, and a picture of a hem that it did in a pair of linen pants.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Terrible product and choice. I was deeply disappointed with this device and kit. First off, I spent over 4.5 hours attempting to get this damned thing to work. The instructions were exceptionally vague at best. On top of that, the kit appeared to be missing so many various pieces and accessories that I returned it ASAP. I did not want a replacement, as I read too many other disappointed reviews. The only thing that was well assembled was the wooden box that the “kit” was enclosed in. Do not waste your time with this. Amazon should drop this product altogether! Value for money: NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!!!

The sewing kit has many great tools that’s I’ve used a lot since purchase. Everything except the portable sewing machine. I followed many video tutorials and read the instructions and tried for hours but it just doesn’t catch the thread well. You’ll get like one good inch of stitches and then it just get tangled or doesn’t even stitch all together. Ended up hand sewing the pillow I was making.

I bought this set because it had everything and I really wanted to be able to sew small things now and then without committing to purchasing a whole sewing machine. I looked up the youtube videos etc for this model and ensured it was threaded correctly and everything, but honestly the machine is really not that practical, even for small tasks. This is just due to the shape and size of the machine, it does work as advertised. Even though I disliked the machine, I absolutely love the kit. It has everything you need. The box is really nice and the pieces (scissors, etc) are good enough quality that I use this kit constantly and in tandem with a machine I picked up thrifting. If I lost this kit I would honestly purchase another, but this has lasted me a good while now and has many years more life left in it.

This is a really nice little kit. The wooden box is glossy and pretty—not cheap looking at all. There are a lot of supplies inside, including a variety of spools of thread, bobbins already loaded with various thread colors, a pin cushion, colored pins, tape measure, seam ripper, spare buttons, safety pins, sewing needles, fabric sheers (found inside the box with the handheld sewing machine). I haven’t operated an actual sewing machine since 6th grade home-ec. I’m vaguely familiar with the concept. All it took was a bit of exploring and tinkering with the handheld machine and it worked fine. The instructions don’t cover how the thread should be set up, so you’ll want to pay extra attention to that before changing to another bobbin. One thing I really appreciate about this machine is that it can be run on 4 AA batteries or simply plugged in.
