I returned the more expensive Cuisinart toaster which toasted very unevenly. This one does not do perfectly even toasting, but it's pretty good. And a good deal. It was on sale, priced at $20 when I bought it, $10 less than the Cuisinart it replaced. No fancy buttons, but those buttons on the Cuisinart seem entirely redundant to the shade knob. I was not overall disappointed in my toaster but for some time I've been searching for a retractable cord. I had one I believe I purchased from Amazon several years ago, that one was retractable. I'm on my way back home because someone set my house on fire and I had been with my daughter in Newport News, VA. I've been purchasing items getting me ready to go home. I love the toaster but I wanted a retractable cord. If you can determine from my searches notice how may times I searched for a toaster.
