I've been shopping for a expresso machine for sometime as I have never had an expresso machine. I found the Nespresso option which is nice because I don't have to do all the extra work. However I did look at numerous Nespresso machines and from various reviews I decided to try this one. Added bonus this one was cheaper than the other options! The machine is super easy to set up and figure out of the box. Good quality material. And it makes delicious expresso! It is a little noisy if you are worried about that however when researching other machines I believe they are louder. (Videos show them sounding like an airplane) Anyways! Ordered this unit after a previous unit made just lukewarm espresso. This unit makes noise but nothing more: after buttons are pushed, a noise begins, then stops. Both lights flash, but no espresso is dispensed. Troubleshooting manual says the water reservoir is empty or not attached correctly. Sadly, neither are true. Sent it back. ... show more

Bought this to replace our Nespresso machine, which began to seriously leak. It works like a champ, and I am very happy with the price! It is also somewhat quieter than the Nespresso, although neither machine is all that quiet.

This item arrived with low expectations -- I had paid a bargain basement price for the Hamilton Beach unit to replace a pricey Bluetooth enabled Nespresso machine that had begun to fail after two years of service. The HB unit is compact, pretty, and does its one thing quite well. My wife declared it "cute!" upon first glance. It preheats quickly. It produces espresso at 180F, quite a bit hotter than my Very Expensive unit. The taste is very good, consistent, and frankly indistinguishable from what my old machine produced. The limited-feature-set software made it easy to program the double and lungo sizes for cortado and lungo delivery perfectly sized to my demitasse cups; two lungos fill my 10oz mug. First impressions were that the unit vibrates quite a bit. An untended cup may wiggle off of the platform (and did). Since I got it situated on a flat surface, it is running reliably and happily. I much prefer the Hamilton Beach unit's fully mechanical mechanism to the software-and-actuator-laden machine it replaces. Overall, a satisfying experience and happy users. ... show more

I was really disappointed because it had such great reviews and was affordably priced. When I tried to use it the small shot would only pour about 5mL (~1/6 oz). The larger poured about 15mL (~1/2oz). So I followed the instructions to adjust. The larger size did adjust, but the smaller would never pour more than ~15mL (~1/2oz). It got to an ok temp but not the super hot temp that other reviewers described. But mostly I could just never get it to pour the right amount. Back it went. ... show more
