    • great for meats, not so much for vegetables
I bought this Hamilton Beach electric knife because I broke my right wrist and could not use that hand to stabilize the foods I was cutting. It cuts meats very well, even without stabilizing the meat with the meat fork (which is included.) Not so for vegetables -- I sawed on a head of cabbage for a good 10 minutes before I realized it wasn't my technique -- it just was not working! And that was even with someone holding the cabbage head still, which was not the way I wanted to use it anyway. The motor does feel hot after I've been using it for four or five minutes, so I take a break while it cools down. The way the knife is designed, you can put it on the counter & the blade will remain up in the air so that it doesn't scratch or damage countertops. That also keeps the blade clean while I'm taking my break. I really like the little storage case, which keeps all the parts and pieces together, and I also like that you can put the blades in the dishwasher. I'd like it better if it cut vegetables too, but just for meat it is still definitely worth the money! ... show more

For older people like myself or anyone with manual dexterity difficulties such as carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, arthritis, etc., this is a godsend. The blades attach and detach easily; easy to clean. The storage case is good, better than sticking parts in a drawer so they could get separated and lost. In cases where you can't move your fingers well anymore the trigger is important for operational ease and safety. Highly recommend this item. ... show more
