Update: I changed the rating from 4 stars to 5. After about two months the main complaint of toast not being brown on the bottom has changed. I'm not sure why, but the toast is now evenly brown all over an dit browns quicker than before. ??? Maybe the elements needed to "burn in"? Whatever the problem was, it seems to be resolved now. Hooray! Our toaster bit the dust and we haven't had a toaster oven in years so we thought it was a clever idea to combine both and it is with one drawback (the bottom 1/2" -1" so of the toast doesn't brown due to the placement of the elements. It's not a dealbreaker for me because what it does brown is nice and even. The whole slice feels toasted, it's just not all brown. (see update above) You need to hold the toaster lever down for a couple seconds for it to catch and start toasting. You can't just push it down and release. I like that there is a cancel button and you can lift the toast slightly to help in removing it. It's handy that you can toast different shapes of bread in the wide slot. I like the overall size of this oven. It doesn't take up a lot of space in the kitchen. Not much more than the large 4 slice toaster we had. The controls are easy to use and not complicated like some. You do have to turn on the timer to get the oven to work. It has a pleasant timer alert, a must for my husband. Note, the alert only works with the oven, not the toaster. I like that the toaster part closes when not in use by pushing a lever. The oven heats up quickly. We've used the broiler a lot and it works great. I like that you can prop the door partly open to allow heat to dissipate after use. I bought a set of pans made for toaster ovens and am glad I did. It makes it much more versatile. My only real issue is that the whole thing gets quite hot. We didn't put it under a low overhanging cabinet for that reason. You don't want to touch the edges of door (the handle is fine) or outside parts of the oven when taking food out. I got several small burns when I used it the first couple times. I'm more aware now. Overall it's a great little toaster/oven and we're happy with our choice.

You might be looking for a toaster oven. I had been looking for a long time. Finally got this one. It is very good. Toaster is terrific. Oven works great. Not great height ….I can put three sweet potatoes and pizzas in to bake. But nothing really of great height. Easy to use! It cleans so quickly and thoroughly. Really happy with this. Takes up smaller amount of space. Looks elegant on my smaller countertop,,,,no noise. Price has even gone down since my purchase. I recommend this toaster oven. Thanks

It has been working great so far. Baked my frozen chicken strips and garlic toast to perfection. It takes about 20 minutes total for 4 slices of garlic toast to get toasted golden brown. I like the look of it and hope it will serve us a long time.

I love this toaster oven. It's so hard to find a toaster oven with slots like a traditional toaster as well as a broiler. It was larger than expected which is a good thing because I can fit more food items in it. It makes for great multitasking in the kitchen, as I can use it for things such as French fries while using my conventional oven for larger items. I haven't had any issues with functionality, it works great and I use it every day. I hope they keep making these, as I appreciate having toaster slots as well as the broiler!

I've had it for 4 years now. Overall, it's ok, good value for the money. Pros: - the oven is great, maintains the temperature well. Cons: - About 2 years in, the black enamel on the top surface started to peel off - the process that's continuing to this day (see the pic). Don't know why this happens, likely manufacturing flaw, hopefully they corrected that now. - The toaster wires are spread too wide, which makes regular slices of bread sag and toasts come out somewhat bent. - Toasting takes time - slower than other toasters I've had experience with.

My daughter talked me into buying a toaster oven but which one, given so many models are on the market. So I turned to Consumer Reports to see what they had to say. This Hamilton Beach was rated top notch, so I bought it and haven’t used our stove once since. I’ve baked cookies, fish sticks, veggies and more. Salmon fillets come out moist and delicious. The only issue I have is setting the temperature correctly on everything I cook. The temperature dial isn’t calibrated by single degrees but by jump in degrees at a time. 350, 400, 450, that sort of thing. It’s taking me a little trial and error to find just where to set the correct temp but now that I have, no worries.
