UPDATE - although I adore this coffee maker, it is literally impossible to find a replacement carafe to go with it. Hamilton Beach website has been out of stock for months, and I have googled my brains out but there are no part 990241400 carafes anywhere, and no parts for this model 46200. Not even ebay has it! What gives? It's the perfect coffee pot, why not provide replacement carafes so I don't have to buy a whole new coffee maker? I am so bummed.     • Great coffee maker
I read a ton of reviews and here are my 2 cents: this is the one I kept. Do people not understand that coffee grounds absorb water? I saw so many complaints that water up to the 6-cup mark did not equate to 6 cups in the carafe. So add another few ounces of water! This has a delay brew option which I use from time to time. The 2 hour keep-hot window works well, coffee is kept hot through that whole 2 hours. The cover that opens to pour water in doesn't drip down the back when you open it. I got creative with a silicon straw which helped cut down on the small amount steam that comes up from the sides. ... show more

This replaced an older Cuisinart coffee maker that had more features, many of which I never used. I wanted something simpler to operate and less expensive and this was a good choice. It's easy to use and makes a good pot of coffee. I'm not crazy about the hinged carafe lid that's fixed in place. It makes cleaning the carafe rather awkward. The coffee maker is quite lightweight and could easily slide off the countertop when removing the carafe quickly. Holding it down with one hand can prevent that, but a potholder should be used since the top gets hot. ... show more

    • Great little pot pours great
To get to the point quickly: 1) pours great no drips 2) brews a little loud but does not bother anyone because everyone is asleep. I can hear it but it doesn’t bother me. 3) I feel that the size works well for the small area on my counter 4) easy to clean and top disconnects from the top for easy dry 5) May look a little cheap however this does not bother me and as long as it works well the look doesn’t matter… and this does work well. 6) all in all a good purchase and would recommend buying this product if you need a new coffee pot. I love this machine and it is the best one I have bought yet. First, it is so quiet, you will probably forget you made coffee. I love that it doesn't beep too. It doesn't make a single gurgling sound even towards the end of the brew.     • They Just Can't Get A Simple Thing Right
So my nice old Hamilton Beach coffee maker lasted about 10 years and then the no-drip feature (when you pull the pot out and pour some before it completes the full brewing cycle). began to drip. I ordered this coffee maker, which is similar to the old one but does not drip. It’s similar but the water chamber on the new one is a tiny little window that doesn’t go down below 4 cups, so if you just want less than 4 cups, it’s anyone’s guess just how much water to put in. And on the new one there is no way to remove the water chamber and pour some water out if you pour too much in. And on the new one, the water chamber is right next to the place where you put the filter and the coffee in, which shouldn’t be a big deal except if you miss, and the water sloshes on your coffee. Which is only a problem for people like me who set things up the night before, and just want to push a button when we wake up and coffee starts to brew. And on the new one, the distinctive red little light is now a pinkish glow around the on/off button. And on the new one the clock has a bright blue display which seems like nothing except when you stumble into the kitchen at 6am and it’s dark everywhere else, you get a REALLY BRIGHT BLUE glow that makes you want to have a pair of sunglasses nearby. Which all kind of makes me wonder why the idiots at Hamilton Beach couldn’t have just designed a new coffee maker without all of these stupid new features that makes their product WORSE and not better. The only thing this new one improves upon is it does not drip when I pull it out after it brews half a cup, but neither did my old one until recently. In the end, I decided to send the new one back because I’d rather live with a little drip than with all the other small annoyances that add up to one big level of ongoing dissatisfaction with companies that can’t let well enough alone, and screw up the simplest product. ... show more

    • Didn't last very long
After having new quartz countertops installed we found that they made our counter just a little bit to high for our old coffee maker to fit underneath so I was glad to find this one because it is shorter than the other one that we had before. We loved this coffee maker for it's size and simplicity however it lasted 11 months until it was dead. I would probably look a little harder for a different short coffee maker next time.
