  • Really works
While out walking my pup, unleashed dogs came after us. They were bigger and more aggressive than my guy, although he was willing to take a stand to protect us both. Luckily, I recently bought the HALT! dog repellent. I shot it out in a “T” shape. The very, very orange, irritating, spray, which shoots out for 8-10 ft (1-1.5m) landed in the dogs’ mouths, on their faces, and in their eyes.they were blinking, spitting, and shaking their heads, way too busy to attack. The dye stands out and cannot be washed off easily, which helps in identifying the dog- or person- that attacked. What I love about this product is the small size, the easy-to-find red, white and blue design, its efficacy, and its price. I wear it clipped or pocketed to my training treat bag, which is great. It’s also perfect for a belt. On top of all that, when I’m out and about at night I carry it in my purse or have it handy in my car. Great protection for very little cost, effective and non-violent. Which is exactly what I want. ... show more

  • The Best Spray I've ever used. dependable! works! no foul ups no back ups!
I carry this on my bike when I go out for a ride, I carry it everywhere, in stores, and outdoors even in my own yard. I have had to use it numerous times on the road, as lots of fruitloops driving out there that are abusive to cyclists these days here in "good ole okie town" that need to hand in their licenses quite frankly! And lots of mean dogs in local "neighbor" hoods I must pass through on my way to stores and main streets! I've never had a problem with the discharge of these sprays! The units I use are quite a few years old, they discharge very far, about 10 feet and never splurt or fizzes nor fail to deliver! as countless other sprays I've tried before or recent! HALT II, They are as potent as new even after 5 years! , the dogs I sprayed today are proof of that! They immediately run off and are pacified at least for about 45 minutes, even after the initial pain subsides. An area I rode down I returned to on my way home with groceries from Walmart and the dogs did not try and attack me again, I had been in the store for 30 minutes, and it took Id say another 15-possibly more, Traffic lights are slow here in Moore, Okietown, I had lots of heavy bags on my handlebars and a backpack! I had to return to the street where I was originally attacked by the dogs. in order to get back to my own home neighborhood! The two dogs had no desire to even come near me and stayed clear even after 45-60 minutes! They didn't feel the affects of the spray but it certainly conditioned them for a day or so. When I returned this route the next week to get more stuff at wallyworld, they again attacked and again I sprayed and they ran off. I think it works for what it is, but it won't train a dog to quit attacking all to gather only keep him at bay in the moment coup de grace. It can smart though! And it will not loose potency over even 5 years!(if not kept in the sun), so pocket it when not in use! I've bought this spray and used it for 15 years, I've bought 4 replacements in that whole long time. Very good, I would trust no other! :) ... show more

  • Pepper spray
Have not had to use it-thankfully but it does provide reassurance when I’m walking through our neighborhood

  • Protect your dog & yourself while walking!
Only downside is the "fine stream" -- and though it appears to reach up to about 8 feet, you have to be rather accurate which can be difficult in an emergency when another dog or a coyote is come at you / your dog. I carry this with me during every walk for the number of unleashed dogs and coyotes in our community. Hope I don't have to use it but I'm glad to have it in my right hand, ready to use, if needed! ... show more

  • HALT! Scared away a Rottweiler
I have a small dog and we walk around our neighborhood 4 to 5 times a day. Several neighbors think it is okay to let their dogs roam off-leash and without a fence. I aimed this toward a charging Rottweiler who had me and my pup in its sight. The spray and the hissing noise stopped the giant dog in its track. I aimed it a second time when it looked like it was trying to make a decision. It went back to its yard and sat watching us. The spray left a streak of orange on its shoulder. ... show more
