One of the things I liked most about this product is how easy it is to use; you can take it anywhere, and you simply turn it on after inserting the fuel cartridge. We often go out into the countryside, and on many occasions, aerosol insect repellent just isn't enough. However, the experience with this Thermacell device was undoubtedly different, as it truly keeps mosquitoes away from our immediate area, leaving the space completely mosquito-free. It was amazing for my family and me, as we can enjoy nature more without having to deal with the discomfort caused by mosquitoes at this time of year. Be aware, the manufacturer has cheapened the product by NO LONGER SUPPLYING THE WEATHERPROOF CAP. The device is the same and works fine but now you can't leave it out on the deck. Photo shows my old orange one and the new blue one with the extra old orange cap I saved from the one I tossed. It still fits but looks like crap. Honestly, what could this cap cost? A few pennies saved for the maker, a constant pain for the user. ... show more

I was actually pretty impressed with how fast this started working and how much it helped keep the mosquitoes away around the patio. It was easy to set up, and we definately noticed fewer bugs after a short time. It works well for just hanging outside at dusk without getting eaten alive. The only real downside is that the replacement refills are kind of pricey and can get expensive if you use it a lot. Overall though, I'm happy with it and would still recommend it for outdoor use. ... show more

The good news is that the thing really works well with mosquitoes. Two things not so hot. I didn't time it specifically, but while the liquid tank mounted in the bottom lasts for a good while, the insert at the top doesn't, and in any case I don't think the protection lasts as long as advertised. Meanwhile mine stopped working after about ten uses this summer. It's cheap so I'm going to buy a new one and hope for better. ... show more

I tried a lot of things to solve the mosquito problem on our patio, but this is the first one that actually worked, eliminating the "no-see-um" mosquitoes that have tormented me. I turn it on each morning while making coffee, then go out with the dog and set it on the floor at my feet, and enjoy God's beautiful creation. My legs used to be covered in bites, but no more. It has worked flawlessly for 4 years. It just stopped working so I called the company with the details and they said I did everything right and so they are sending me a replacement. I was blown away. It seems like nothing really stops mosquitoes, but this works surprisingly well! The radius is correct, there is not a strong scent, these are easy to pack and refills are available. I bought this because my dad has them for when we go to the lake in Oklahoma. He uses them in the Denver area other times and overall they seem to repel well. We usually put two out to get full coverage. However. I live in the mountains, about 2000ft higher than Denver and it would not work at that altitude. I don’t know what altitude it stops at exactly but it works at 5000 feet and doesn’t at 7200. Could be I got a messed up cartridge but I also think it’s likely the altitude is messing things up.
