I just installed a Haloview wireless camera and monitor with a Haloview Furrion adaptor. The adaptor is not really necessary, but it makes the installation look better. I did a separate review of the adaptor. I gave it only 3 stars. Obviously this is much less expensive than the Furrion unit. Plus its completely plug and play with the Furrion wires already on your trailer. If you don't use the Haloview adaptor the Haloview kit comes with everything you need to simply screw it onto the outside of the Furion cover or directly to the trailer. You would need to drill a hole into the Furion cover for the wires to enter. I would caution that the screws that both Furion and Haloview provide are tiny. I also found that the screws were over tightened on the Furrrion adaptor Grand Design installed on my trailer, so the screw holes were crushed and cracked (yet another example of poor RV workmanship). So I applied black exterior caulk to all the screws and seams to ensure it was sealed. At the monitor end I got three bars of signal strength in the cab of my pickup. The 5 inch monitor is clear and detailed. The microphone on the camera is better than I expected. I could hear my wife and kid converse in the back yard quite clearly. Not sure how it would do in a windy or noisy enviroment. I wasn't that impressed with the monitor mounting hardware as it was cheap plastic with small screws and nuts. This seems to be a endemic fault with Chinese made electronics these days. It's to be expected and since I decided to ditch the Holoview monitor mounting hardware I didn't take off any stars on my rating. If mounting hardware had been important to me, it would have cost this thing one star in my rating. Instead I used two of my wife's hairbands to hold the monitor to the (useless when towing) rear view mirror. Ruibber bands would also work. When I am not towing the monitor, hairbands and wireing gets tossed into the center console box. The monitor has adaptors and wiring that can be hardwired into the towing vehicle as well as the usual cigarette lighter style plug, which I used. The wiring on my trailer turns the camera on whenever the driving / headlights lights are turned on. Obviously the power comes off the upper driving lights located just above the Furrion mount. Lights on, camera on. This Haloview was about half the cost of the Furrion system, and for that you get a great camera and monitor that will fits. Where Haloview comes up short is on the quality of the monitor mounting hardware for inside the tow vehicle. It would work, but its all plastic and probably won't last. Mounting the monitor to the existing center rear view mirror was a great idea I saw on U-tube and it takes advantage of the fact that when you are towing a big travel trailer all you see is travel trailer in that mirror.

The MC5111 works very well, and I would recommend it for those who want a quality system. I have one camera installed on the pickup rear plate, and another on the back of the 29' travel trailer. My observations: - the cameras are housed in sealed metal cases, with several IR LEDs to enhance night vision. Build quality is excellent. - this set's camera comes with a handy license plate bracket which works well. Mine was an easy install, after proper wiring - there's a shorter antenna included that may be needed to keep out of the way of a pickup tailgate. - the daytime picture is excellent, good update rate and good resolution. the nighttime picture is actually pretty good, better than expected, not as good as daylight, but more than adequate for passing/backing maneuvers - the display is 5" and is near perfect in size. While the alternative 7" display is great, it fits better in a full size pickup or motorhome, while the 5" fits most everything, including my mid-size. - the camera has a microphone, which works for low speed backing (to hear your partner say "more left, keep going and then, of course, STOP!!!!) but the volume has to be turned off for highway use. - the display has a good suction cup mount (hasn't fallen yet) that can mount on the bottom or the back of the 5" display. also has a bracket mount that can be positioned bottom, back or top. - display brightness is very good, and adjustable. At night, I do have to adjust the brightness down at night, and up in the day (add that to the nice-to-have's for the future, but minor nuisance not a show-stopper) - Rain can obscure the picture, if the airflow forces rain on the lens. The camera with this set doesnt have a rain shield. Would be great if it had a rain shield, but this is not a big issue for me. - Wireless range is very good. Camera at license plate has no issues, camera that is 40 feet back has a slightly lower refresh rate. I'm at the edge of range, and would recommend the remote antenna for anyone with a 28 foot or larger trailer. But even that poses no issue at all for driving, rearview and backing. - the video recorder works, and I like having that run in continuous loop, so if anything happens, i've got it on tape. Have put 2500+ miles on the Haloview, so far, so good! (the video shows a snippet of actual use. the still picture quality is better than the still indicates - blame the moire on the cheap camera phone.)

I have this mounted on the rear of a 23-foot camping trailer, towed behind a 16-foot vehicle. Pros: Noticeably brighter and sharper monitor compared to Furrion system that I also tried; obvious buttons on front of monitor allow easier monitor control than hidden side buttons on Furrion. Hardware is pretty good, camera is metal not plastic. Another "plus" is that Haloview offers 3 different monitor sizes if you look at their line. This one is 5 inches which I consider a happy medium in my vehicle. Easy to see (bifocals) but not so large that it is cluttering your dash or blocking your view. I had no issues "pairing" monitor and camera. Cons: Exhibits "lag" at highway speed, at times (not always, and works fine at backing up), meaning the video stutters and occasionally freezes for 1-2 seconds. "Booster" antenna (which moves the antenna 10 feet closer on roof of trailer) sold by Haloview did not help with this issue whatsoever so I returned that. Base of camera antenna tightening nut is rusting after 3 months of use, works but suppose I'll have to replace it eventually. The suction cup monitor windshield mount provided is extremely cheap plastic and the weak plastic won't tighten completely. It does manage to hold the screen so far. When contacted about this Haloview did respond by email but they weren't very helpful nor did they offer a solution except purchase of another mount. There's also a metal frame mount provided but I couldn't use that in my situation.

The 5" MC5111 with the Furion adaptor kit was easy to install on the trailer. Only issue I had was not knowing that the truck light have to be turned to "on" in order to power the camera. This was not explained in the Haloview instructions, probably due to the fact that it is specific to the Furion pre-wired trailer. At any rate, this info would have been helpful in the install instructions. After researching the Forest River forum, I found the answer. After that the unit paired quickly. The 5" screen is more than adequate to view the traffic behind you. I feel the 7" screen would be too large on my dash. There is an ever so slight delay in the streaming of the video, probably not even a second, so I think this is acceptable. AS others have noted, the microphone on the camera unit works, but not great. You will need to mute the sound while driving. All in all, very pleased with product quality and operation. Just what I needed and a fraction of the cost o the Furion unit. FYI - I installed on a 25' TT towed by a RAM 1500 crew cab.

I installed the Halo View on my 22' camper recently after watching you tube videos and reading the reviews. The quality is good, and the picture great for what I need. The video feed is a bit choppy with the stock antenna, so I will like invest in an extender antenna to see if it helps. The main thing I like about it is I can now see what is behind me in relatively real time. Installation was easy and adapted to the Furrion plate easily. I used some black RV Silicone to seal the adapter plate to ensure a water tight fit. The monitor is also good quality and easily adjustable on the fly. Everything together makes this a great option at an affordable price.

The camera and monitor was well package. I also purchased the Haloview B-F02 backup camera bracket adapter compatible with the Furrion mount that is on the trailer. I screwed the B-F02 adapter to the camera and removed the cover plate on the Furrion mount, I could tuck the wires and connections into the Furrion mount, screw the camera in place and have a quick neat installation. The monitor sat in a pocket in the engine housing of my E250 and plugged into the cigarette outlet. There is about 45 feet between the camera and monitor. I have only used the camera for short runs this summer and it gets a good clean picture. There is a microphone in the camera which allows the driver to hear sounds behind the trailer while on the road or someone is helping to direct you while backing. I have removed the camera for winter and replaced the Furrion cover on the mount. Well worth the money to eliminate the blind area behind the trailer.

This was the fourth camera (not all the same brand) I got for my new RV that had the Furrion camera mount preinstalled. The first was defective and a replacement worked right up until I put it on the RV. When I got it installed there was no signal. I returned it and bought a different brand of Haloview camera and it had a problem with the Furrion mount adapter where the camera stuck out too far and the ladder on the back of the RV was in the way. I returned it and found this model with a different type of Furrion adapter that is flat and works on my RV. Once I did that I had the same problem with no signal. I could see that the camera was getting power (I measured it with a meter at 12 volts). The camera worked perfectly when I plugged it into the cigarette lighter, even at a block away, so I concluded that the power must not be sufficient for the camera. After searching on the internet for half a day I found the solution. The problem is that some newer vehicles (2019 Ford Escape in my case) have some kind of power management in the electronics for the RV electrical connection. The result is that there is not enough power available for a camera. Furrion sells a "7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter w/ Power Switch for Furrion RV Observation Camera" that plugs into the car and then the RV plugs into the adapter. It solves the problem not just for Furrion cameras but all brands. Interestingly, the place I bought my RV from had never heard of this problem. Once I got the power problem solved the camera has been working flawlessly. Once you get used to how things look in the camera versus the side mirror (cars look farther away than the really are due to the wide angle view) it is really nice to have. I had a small problem with one of the cables and the suction mount was missing a piece but after an email to Haloview they sent two different types of suction mounts and new cables free of charge.

We bought this camera for our travel trailer last year and it worked okay. The picture quality is average but the monitor would freeze and cut in and out. After sitting over the winter it was done. It has not worked this season. I guess if you want a camera that "works" for one season this is it!
