- Natural Organic Coconut Fiber for Leopard Geckos: Halatool's leopard gecko substrate contains two 7.87"x3.94"x1.97" bricks of pure coconut husk fiber. This organic, reusable bedding is cleaned with no dirt or foreign substances, providing the safest leopard gecko bedding for sensitive reptiles
- Optimized Humidity and Airflow: Our coconut fiber substrate creates humidity levels of 60-80% for hermit crabs, snails, and other moisture-loving pets to assist healthy shedding while preventing excessive dampness. The fibrous structure allows excellent aeration, reducing belly scale abrasions and encouraging natural burrowing behaviors your leopard gecko, tortoise, crested gecko, tarantula instinctively craves
- Advanced Odor and Waste Control: Unlike inferior substrates, our bedding naturally breaks down waste and minimizes odors through superior absorption. This creates a cleaner habitat that reduces cleaning frequency while keeping your reptiles' environment fresh and comfortable
- Cost-Effective Terrarium Solution: Each compressed brick expands to 3x its size when soaked (simply add water and let dry 1-2 days if too moist). This budget-friendly coconut fiber substrate outperforms commercial alternatives by maintaining humidity longer, reducing misting needs by up to 30%
- Premium Naturalistic Habitat: The ultra-soft texture mimics the loose soils of your gecko's native arid environment while being completely digestible if accidentally ingested. Lightweight yet durable, it stores easily as compact bricks then transforms into lush bedding that satisfies all natural digging and hiding instincts
- Easy Preparation and Application: Simply unwrap the compressed coconut fiber substrate, place in a large container, add water to allow full absorption and expansion, then mix with moss or barks as desired for your reptiles' bedding needs
Features
- Natural Organic Raw Material: You will get two coco coir brick substrates. They are made of coconut husk fiber, which extracted from the husk on the outer shell of a coconut. Our reptile substrate is clean, without dirt or foreign substances, both organic and reusable. The size of each brick is about 7.87 X 3.94 X 1.97 Inches, weight is about 1.4lb.
- Excellent Drainage & Water Absorption: Sponge-like properties of coconut fiber will absorb up to 8-10 times its weight in water. This coco coir brick really swells up when you add water. So it is a great substrate for any reptile or amphibian that needs a substrate / bedding that can hold moisture.
- Minimize Odor & Break Down Waste: Our coco coir substrate for reptiles can minimize odor and break down waste. It can provide a clean, comfortable living environment for your reptiles. Making them feel more like at home.
- Super Easy to Use & Store: Just soak the brick in water until it expands and re-constitutes. If it's too wet, let it dry a day or two before using it. The compressed coco coir brick substrate is lightweight, and after swelling with water the coconut coir brick can be bagged up like nutrient soil.
- Multi-Purpose Reptile Substrate: It is suitable to be used as a feeding mat for various reptiles, such as, snakes, frogs, hermit crabs. And it can be used to raise spiders. Fans of pet spiders often make ground-dwelling spiders rearing mat. The good moisturizing effect can also be used to ensure safe hibernation of turtles. These bricks are a good quality material, they expand quite a bit when water is added and it holds moisture for a long time. This is my preferred substrate for my snake tank, he loves to burrow and tunnel through his fresh bedding and this coconut fiber is perfect for that. Toss it into the tank and add warm water and watch it expand, it does take a couple hours but it's worth the wait.

Coco coir is a great substrate for growing fungi at home. Compared to previous coir that I've purchased, this is pretty standard stuff. Per unit, this is priced in the middle of comps. If you are just in need of a small amount of substrate, I think this is priced well. But if you need a lot, there are deals to be found by buying in bulk.

I use this for gardening, mainly when I'm potting plants. This little brick expands quite a bit when water is added to it. It's light and fluffy which is a great additive to soil and a great alternative to using peat moss. Peat moss isn't renewable, so I was excited to find this alternative. This coconut coir is slow to break down, and adds a lot of loft to the soil. It holds moisture and and air which makes it an ideal soil amendment.

I use this in my hamster's cage and he LOVES to dig in this stuff. Because it has been cleaned and sanitized, it is safe to use in a hamster's cage for not only aesthetics but also enrichment (hamsters love to dig and are good at it!). There is no odor or dust, so it won't cause any respiratory problems.

We have a tortoise, bearded dragon, and leopard gecko in our house, so we go through quite a bit of terrarium bedding. This is our first time trying coconut coir. I did some reading online and this is a great bedding for their enclosures. If it is ingested, it will not cause harm. This is organic and made of coconut husk fiber. I read it is important to ensure the coconut coir is 100% organic so this will work perfectly. It comes as a solid brick and expands and softens when you add water to it.

It is 2 compressed bricks. The bricks that I got were 2 very different sizes, but it looks like I got a little more than advertised.

Comes in two different size blocks. It was a bit dusty and some of the material had made its way into the box but nothing to be concerned about. I added water until it was the correct consistency of moist dirt and put it in our little turtle habitat and she knew exactly what to do with it. She is a very spoiled turtle. I will order this again.

My bearded dragon seems to like this substrate. It wasn’t too bad breaking it up and spreading it around. Looks really good and he seems to take well to his new floor
