On a first responder salary it's hard to justify the cost of such expensive boots. I thought I'd give it a go and see if they led up to the hype and I'm super impressed. I'm hard on my boots. Ive had mostly Ariats, Justin's and bates and I go through a pair every 1-2 years. These seem alot more solid and extremely comfortable. Boots can be donned and doffed quickly and even stay on your feet unzipped just fine. They dont feel heavy as expected. If you like the shine, parade gloss dresses them up nicely and you can finish that with some hairspray which makes it super glossy. (Pic shown is with no gloss finish) These are great for wildland and rescue as well and if the strings break just toss em and redo with black zip ties. Breaking them in took half a day and I believe you can always send them in to get repaired which is better than buying a new pair if anything were to happen. I have many friends that have purchased similar boots with the center zip from other manufacturers and all say this brand is the best. I feel like they dont run smaller or larger than actual size. Fit is perfect. Theyre about $100 more than other boots I normally purchase which is alot but now that I know the benefits it's worth it to me. Hope this helps fellas. This is my fourth pair of R2's after first wearing R8's(short top version...discontinued). I wear these in an industrial environment exposed to high heat, oil, chemicals, water and steam. Besides its ability to hold up in this environment I really like the fact I can get them off my feet very quickly if you get them submerged in a hot or corrosive substance. This has saved me from chemical burn in the past by having my boot off in a matter of a few seconds while my foot was protected. I also hike, climb(*with Climbing Gaffs*), hunt and canoe. I wear one boot for it all and I keep a few pairs of these around to cycle in for jobs likely to do damage. Out of the five pairs of Haix I've owned, I still have three. I plum wore out the R8's and my first pair of R2's got tossed after being submerged in caustic filled pit. I wont wear another boot for action unless I cant get these. By far the best boot I have ever worn. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for. It is so comfortable, durable, and easy to polish and clean. The front zipper is so smooth and makes it easy to slip these off fast while getting your gear on. I would highly recommend these for firefighters or EMS personnel. ... show more

If you have a bony foot, I'd probably stay away from these as the leather seems tend to dig into pressure points, depending on your foot obviously.
