This hair cutting set is quite a decent bargain. It contains everything basic needed for a haircut, a carrying case to keep everything in, and even includes a hair thinning comb, which I thought was interesting, and had never used before. I can see it being useful in order to create more natural looking layers. I gave it a try after a few tutorials, and it does work. There was some slight tugging, but the hair I was practicing on was pretty thick, so it may have been my lack of experience. The main scissors cut perfectly fine, they're sharp, and had no problem trimming thick hair. One annoyance, however, is that the scissors are listed as being made from 440c stainless steel, VG10 stainless steel, and 660 stainless steel, which all contradict one another. It can only be one kind of steel, and I'm not sure which, if any of these, because there's no stamp on the scissors indicating a grade. It wouldn't have mattered for a budget set like this, and there isn't any pitting or other defects, so I'm still happy with them, but make of it what you will, if that's something that's important to you. You're not going to see a pro using this set, but for someone at home just needing to trim hair on occasion, it's a good deal.

Set of hair thinner scissors and cutting scissors in a zipper case. Focusing on these items, this is a very nice set and a great value. The combs, the razor comb and the cape, very gift with purchase quality. The cape, I can see the pattern on my bedspread through the fabric. The cape has strings to tie it but they are only long enough to make a knot. Adding a length of cording to the strings, I can now tie a bow and untie the cape when I am finished. The combs, razor comb, hair clips and ponytail holders are “everything’s a dollar” quality. The quality of the cutting scissors and the thinning scissors - not pro quality but I would expect to pay $10 for the pair without the case. The price for this set at the time of this review is $10. I plan to add the case with thinning scissors and trimming scissors along with the case and combs to a college survival kit for my niece next fall. Turning the long handled comb at an angle, it fits into the case. This will be great when she needs a quick trim. The razor comb, hair clips, ponytail holders and cape - I may or may not add to her kit.

I ordered this Hair Cutting Scissors Set. I've been toying with the idea of cutting my hair at home and decided to hop on this cute set. I love the rainbow metallic finish. The scissors are sharp and do a great job of cutting without resistance. This is a good beginner set because it includes all of the things that you may need. I use a trimmer to cut my husbands hair and that came with a cheap cape and combs. This set is much better quality - the cape will last more than one use and the combs are solid. It feels like a good value for the price ($9.99 at time of review.)

Hair Cutting Scissors Set, Rainbow ($9.99) - 4.9/5 stars I'm really pleased with this product! I didn't have huge hopes from a <$10 hair cutting kit, but this far exceeds my expectations, and is well worth the price. I'm glad to have these in my beauty kit for doing trims at home! Full disclosure: I'm no hairdresser, so take my opinions with a grain of salt... but that said, these scissors actually feel pretty quality! They are hefty and quite sharp, and worked really well when I trimmed my ends. I like that they can be adjusted/tightened using the included key. I think either pair of scissors alone would be worth the asking price. The included accessories are just icing on the cake. They aren't as high-quality, but they do the trick, and I appreciate having an all-in-one set. The comb with the razor is especially interesting! My only very tiny complaint is I wish that the one longest comb fit down better into the case, because for once, I actually like the included case and intend to keep it together.

I admit I wasn't expecting much from this set, considering the low price and the rainbow colors of the scissors not feeling "professional" enough. I was proven wrong since this set exceeded all my expectations. The scissors are very sharp and easy to hold. They're much sharper compared to the name-brand haircutting scissors I've been using, which cost as much as this entire set. The combs also don't feel cheap and I am using them daily for non-haircutting purposes too. The cape is a bit on the thinner side, but it works fine. The one thing that confused me about this product is a tiny vial of mystery liquid that's included in the set. I have no idea what it's used for, and the description also doesn't seem to mention it. Regardless, for this price point, you can't go wrong with this product. Highly recommended!

I only recently started cutting a friend's hair at home, so I'm far from being a connoisseur of a hair cutting tools. However, this set has everything. The scissors are definitely sharp. Careful! The cape is pretty thing but does the job. My wish with this set is that everything they include would fit and have a dedicated spot in the provided case. It doesn't. The small parts (like the oil and adjuster key for the scissors) don't have a home in the case. There's no little pocket for them so they are bound to be lost. And the long comb provided doesn't entirely fit in the case. Even at an angle it sticks out of the opening at the bottom of the zipper. And the cape definitely doesn't go in the case. For an at-home set this has everything, but being able to store it all compactly and without the risk of losing pieces would be better.
