  • Cheesy fun!
I finished the first volume within a day so I figured hey, why not check out the next one? I'm rather glad I did since the storytelling does improve with this volume. (OK, so I admit that the cover art drew me in as well.) The storytelling has improved with this volume, as do the cameos by both actual people and familiar horror icons. We get a glimpse at some Suicide Girls in this volume and while it does serve to be more of a vehicle for SG during that chapter, it was still pretty decent. (Sometimes you've just got to sit back and enjoy the... scenery.) This is still a pretty shallow comic series, choosing to focus more on the cameos and horror cliches, but you can't really begrudge Seeley this fact. This series never hides what it is, which is part of why I've come to love it so much. Sometimes stuff like this just works and for Hack/Slash it does. UPDATE: The comic must be doing something right, as I ended up purchasing this years later despite feeling somewhat lukewarm the first time I read this. There's just something about this series that just gets under your skin and takes up shop there. ... show more

  • Fans of the slasher genre rejoice!
This graphic novel series is one for the ages. Whether you're new to graphic novels and horror or if you grew up bleeding slasher films like Friday the 13th or Child's Play during the 80's, the Hack Slash universe has a little something for everyone (unless you're easily offended, squeamish, or quite simply a scaredy cat). From stunningly gorgeous heroines and bad girls to a big ugly brute of a sidekick to very creative and grotesque villains/monsters... From cute, light, laughable jokes and situations to dark, terrifying, horrific gore... From spooky, dark, isolated cabins in the woods to loud, bright, crowded spring break parties in Miami Beach... This entire series is a must have for ANY fan of horror. When you emerge within these pages you will instantly be captured as you fly through one amazing story with spectacular art to the next. Cassie and Vlad join forces as the deadliest duo slasher fans have ever seen as they proceed to hunt down and slaughter any evil, monstrous killers and slasher they can find. You don't want to miss this one. Read if you dare.....! ... show more

  • Not much to say
It's great. I already have the first (and 3rd) and this is definately totally worth it. If you are a fan, all the Omnibus are must own. If you are new to it, or want a comprehensive collection, do it. If you dont know anything about Hack/Slash, shame on you, why are you even reading this? Ok, broken girl & broken misfigured friend track down slashers. Hijinks ensue. IF that's not enough for you, the writing is actually very good and the character and stories have more than just the obvious madcap gore & T&A. Get 'em all. Start with the first. Get this one, move on to the next. ;) ... show more

  • Love it!
I didn't know much about the series before I bought this omnibus. Hack/Slash is incredible. The art is stunning, the stories are reminiscent of the classics, in some cases literally reviving 80's slasher flicks like Chucky and the Reanimator. While campy and fun, there is a certain level of gore that makes this series true to the genre. There is also a depth to the main arc that adds deminsion to Cassie and Vlad. I can't wait to buy the next omnibus! ... show more

  • Great Art, Memorable Characters
This Omnibus is even better than the first one, and it is very much down to the characters developing and the very awesome art of Emily Stone. I'm not sure if this was intended, but Vlad looks a little fat in the last comic, which would be easily explained by their very bad diet. The stories are silly, funny, sad but never boring. In the end, we are reminded Cassie is just a teenage girl doing something she thinks is right, and also because she doesn't know anything better. I'm not sure if it would appeal to younger (ages 10 and below) readers though. ... show more

  • Family Reunion from Hell
Great characters, great scares, great fun! The Re-animator crossover was the best story in the omnibus, and the most tragic. Seriously I was reading Dr West's dialogue in Jeffrey Comb's voice, I should watch those movies after reading this. Also I want a demon dog like Pooch!

  • Worst binding ever!!
Let me be clear. Hack/slash is fantastic! I can't recommend it enough, it's fast becoming one of my favorite series. My one star is strictly because this is the worst bound omnibus I've ever bought and believe me I've bought my fair share. I haven't even finished it and already pages are coming loose/falling out. I just can't express enough that I've never had an omnibus that was such more quality. Honestly I'm hesitant to keep buying these and that sucks cuz man if you love horror, slashers this is top shelf stuff. ... show more
