This was my go-to when my milk came in and I was engorged. I’d wake up in the middle of the night from the pain, and just five minutes with this would bring relief and even let me collect some milk. I highly recommend bringing one with you to the hospital as well.

Been using both the Ladybug and the pump. The lady bug is great for its discreet size, but definitely doesn’t have the suction that the pump does. Great to put on the other breast that baby isn’t on when they are feeding. They are pretty intuitive as far as use and easy to clean. So glad i have this and recommend to all new moms. Hurt a little when initially using with full suction applied but easy to adjust how much suction pressure is applied. Easy to put on and take off and adjust. Easy to clean and transfer milk into bottle. Great to get an extra and keep one at home and one on the go for those times you need it but don’t have a baby or pump to relieve the breast from engorgement. I had the hakkaa on one breast and my spectra pump on the other and surprisingly the Hakkaa expressed almost as much milk at least 75% of what the pump expressed in the same amount of time. The ladybug shell so far has been pretty useless I would have just gotten two of the normal Hakkaa in hindsight. ... show more

    • Great to test out and see what works for you
At first I hated the regular haakaa, until I learned how to hand express my milk. Perfect tool when hand expressing! Then I thought the lady bug was the best ever, but I ended up not liking how easily it lost suction and it takes awhile to air dry. There are better bra friendly let down/passive milk collectors, ie. Trove by Boon. Would have given 5 stars if the ladybug worked better. ... show more

    • Saved me from mastitis, TWICE!
Wife’s review: Initially bought this to do the Haakaa epsom salt soak to relieve clogged milk ducts and was shocked at how well it worked! Almost immediate relief and cleared clogs quickly! I was in pain for days using heat, ice, massage, and frequent pumping with my spectra was doing nothing to relieve my engorgement. 10 minutes on the Haakaa did it! Now I use this every night while nursing as I overproduce and it helps to empty milk quickly. I also use the ladybug while nursing on opposite side to catch letdown. Best purchase yet! HUGE FAN! My best friend recommended these to me and they were a lifesaver! They caught so much let down and I used them all through nursing the first four months.     • Useful tools for breastfeeding/pumping moms
I am an exclusive pumper but an under supplier so I didn’t have much use for the lady bug (it’s very cute though!). I feel like it would be useful for over supplier moms especially if they have very leaky breasts. The Haakaa came in handy for me when I was using my Spectra single electric pump and was only able to pump one side at a time. So I would attach the Haakaa to the opposite side of whatever side I was pumping to start collecting milk. I wouldn’t say that it helped me produce any extra milk, but rather it would give me a head start on that side. So if I was consistently pumping out 3 ounces per side in 20 minutes per side, by attaching the Haakaa to one side I could collect about an ounce or 1 1/2 ounces on that side so it would reduce the time needed to pump that side after finishing the other side. So cutting out up to 10 minutes or more of overall pumping time which was very helpful especially during the night. I did try to continue doing 20-30 minute pumping sessions even after using the Haakaa just to see if I could get any more milk but no luck, my output stayed the same each time regardless. The Haakaa also came in handy a few times that we lost power and my electric pump battery died. So I was able to remove a little milk on each side to relieve discomfort until power was restored and I could pump with the Spectra again. So to sum up it was helpful for me when I needed it and I’m certain that both items would be extremely helpful for over suppliers and those prone to engorgement. ... show more
