  • Easy, simple installation with good instructions
After returning home to a cold house from a long trip, I found that our very expensive touchscreen wi-fi thermostat wasn't working. I needed to get something quickly in order to get the heat turned on, so I ordered this unit with next day delivery. Installation was simple using the included printed instructions. We have a Carrier heat pump with emergency heat, and this thermostat worked perfectly. When installing this for a heat pump, you'll need to know whether your reversing valve is energized during heating or cooling. Most are energized during cooling, but you can easily find this information by googling this for your particular heat pump brand. Once you have this information, you connect the reversing valve wire to either the O (for cooling) or B (for heating) terminal on the thermostat. This sounds more complicated than it really is. I didn't use any of the programmable features, as this was just a temporary fix until I can get a replacement OEM thermostat, so I can't speak to the ease of programming, but for setting simple heat/cool temperatures, it was very easy to use. This programmable unit was only a couple of dollars more than the non-programmable version, so I got this one in case I need to use it again longer-term. ... show more

  • Good so far
Bought this thermostat for one of my air conditioners, with ac/heat pump and back up heat. Wiring diagram is tricky if you’re not experienced with it, other than that works perfectly and I’ll buy more after a period of time. Love the price and that it’s programmable.

  • Works with 2H/1C system
So, I had an Ecobee, and although, I reached out to their support several times, and they told me their thermostat is compatible with a 2H/1C system it just never worked right. I decided to get a system specific for 2H/1C and it worked. I was a bit confused about the instructions, if I am being honest and there is a section where it read you'd need a jumper if you have a specific system, but in the end I was able to get heat and cool to work. The unit lights up when you press a button, and it's easy to read as shown in the picture. I will update my review after having it for a while but for the price it's pretty hard to beat, IMO. ... show more

  • Easy-peasy Once Working
If you don't want or need a "smart" thermostat but want programmable settings to fit your lifestyle and cut heating bills, this is the ticket. It has a large, easy to read display, and compared to other programmable thermostats I've used over the decades, this is quite easy to program and change. Be warned, installation could present challenges, such as, slightly different spacing of mounting screws from your old thermostat. Oddly, the simplest legacy connection, a two wire red-and-white heat-only setup (wires labeled R or RH and W) turned out to be a major headache. The setup is not covered in the Installation Manual, but the logical guess is to connect to the RH and W/E terminals. Didn't work. After debugging that everything else was working, I posted a question on Amazon. Within hours, the seller responded: "you need to connect RH- W2 to realize the traditional thermal mode." Too bad they couldn't have just included this in the manual, considering how common this arrangement is in older homes. But kudos to the seller for the quick and correct answer. Good thermostat, good value, good customer support. Recommended. ... show more

  • Easy to install Heat Pump thermostat that doesn't break the bank
Not very hard to install. Feature-rich, it includes what I feel is super important in a thermostat the feature of a temperature "swing" setting. This lets you set separate swing settings for heat and cool. Without this feature every single degree change results in an on cycle or an off cycle. Thats too often and too many run cycles that don't last very long. Your AC (cooling) needs to run long enough to pull humidity out of the air. I give this thermostat an A+ rating. The only thing I'd change would be a larger display. I'm 66 and wish I could read it without my glasses. If you're young with good eyesight its probably fine. One thing I especially love is how quiet the relays in it are. My previous LUX brand thermostat relays switched on with a (too loud for my taste) "CLACK". Loud enough to wake me from a sound sleep. This Heagstat is super quiet in that respect. ... show more

  • Not for Dual stage cooling systems, will function as a single stage
This thermostat lacks a “Y2” connection. That means if you have two stage cooling, this thermostat will make it function as a single stage. “If your new thermostat doesn't have a Y2 terminal, it's likely a single-stage thermostat, so it won't be able to run the second stage of cooling. Without the way to connection: “Your new thermostat will still work, but your cooling system won't be as efficient.” ... show more

  • Gets the job done!
I bought this unit because it has an emergency heat option and is programmable. I've had this thermostat for close to 3 months now and so far with my experience it has done the job. It's not a feature rich thermostat but it's good enough for me. When doing the initial tech setup, have the book handy so you understand the options you're dealing with and installation is otherwise easy if you ever wired up a thermostat before. I'm pretty happy overall. ... show more
