This set was a mixed bag. The knee and elbow pads have some issues with them. Moreso with the elbow set. But some modding made them more useable. These pads are gonna attach to the wearer via "unaffixed and elastic velcro closure straps." Breaking that down --Unaffixed, you can literally pull the straps off the pads completely, there is no stitching, glueing or plastic welding holding them in place. This causes the straps to shift when putting the pads on, thus requiring 3 hands. Next the straps are elastic, they stretch when you tighten them down. This can lead to the pads shifting away from the hard boney parts you are trying to protect! They were probably made this way for comfort and a better sizing range. The last thing velcro-closure, the velcro is only on the ends of this elastic strap therefore you cant tighten the pads down too well. Youll run out of velcro, and thus have to settle with a looser fitment, not good for what these pads are meant to do. The knee pads had pretty good hard plastic. There is a small amount of cushioning for comfort, but those goofy straps. The forearm and elbow guards on the other hand have a taken an unrealistic sharp bow to them. You can "blade" your forearm as much as you want, there simply not enough room to fit a normally nourished human arm into it. You have to force the plastic apart with alot of pressure. Personally I used some weights to deform the plastic. You're only halfway there you still have to deal with those problematic straps. There is not enough velcro and they stretch way too much, giving you an unsafe fit. I had to resort to cutting down the ALL the straps mid sections by 2 inches and then used Barge contact cement(not the same as rubber cement), along with some hole drilling and doubled-up cowboy stitching to get the fit that i wanted. They are protective. The elbow guards are exactly the same as the knee ones only smaller. They didn’t fit on elbows comfortably but they work perfectly for my 14 year old son on his knees. He wears men’s small and is skinny.

I bought these for mountain biking through boulder trails. They were a little narrow and I cracked one trying to widen it. The legs stay on OK but the arms tend to slide down. Keep in mind I'm riding down the equivalent of staircases, so the bumpy ride shakes them loose. They are comfortable to wear, not hot, and don't hinder movement. Can't beat the price. ... show more

The one positive i can give this is that you will not get road rash while wearing them. The negatives are the plastic feels cheap so i'm not entirely certain it would survive a hard impact, even though it feels sturdy. The foam inserts are also incredibly thin for something that's supposed to protect your knee. Speaking of which, when you rotate your leg 90 degrees, there is actually a large gap where there is no foam. Between that and the thin foam, i can pretty much guarantee you'll end up bruising your knee on this. There's simply nowhere near enough cushion inside. The portion that covers your shin and upper calf is also a little narrow and made for a smaller person/slight build. The elbow guards i can live with. I wanted something more substantial that would protect my shins as well as my knee, but these knee guards are not it. You get what you pay for. ... show more

Nasty looking, but very functional. This will allow me to continue to roller blade down hills for another ten years!!!(I'm already 77) ERY well priced for what you get. Incredible!!!! 40 years ago, I paid more in absolute dollars and got far less.
