- Warm Tips: It's needed to recalibrate before securing the back cover. It is normal that the joystick may not return to center each time under no dead zone mode. In case of stuck joystick issue, the stick cap that comes pre-installed becomes loose during shipping, just press the cap vertically down to fix it. Follow the instruction to replace the original joysticks with GuliKit electromagnetic joystick modules on your Steam Deck OLED. The replacement procedure for both left and right joysticks is same. A.Turn on steam deck oled. (Had better not install back case before finishing the calibration） B.Press the tiny switch on the board of joystick module to get joysticks calibrated. (Please Not Touch Joysticks During The Process) C.Enter joystick calibration interface on Steam Deck OLED to ensure the spot return to center position (0,0). D.Then you are good to screw up the shells and use Steam Deck OLED.

I own a DAY ONE release Steam Deck OLED from November of 2023. And the other day my right thumb stick side grip and stick just crumbled into tiny pieces! I've heard of GuliKit on YouTube and went straight to Amazon for a replacement. *If you're reading this and you have a Steam Deck OLED, you're in the RIGHT PLACE!* Summary - was EASY to install took only 15 minutes being careful and not including the post-install testing. As long as you have a micro tool set with star bits you're good to install these as soon as they arrive. ONE MAJOR NOTICEABLE THING that surprised me: The sticks are SMOOTHER and LIGHTER than the originals! I remember reading an Amazon review that did mention this and I was skeptical. The BEST way to notice this is when you pull the old stick out, just wiggle it while its out of the machine alongside the Gulikit ones and yeah...you'll see for yourself. My sticks had this "stickyness" when pushed to the sides and this was for BOTH old sticks. The Gulikit was buttery smooth. Also I noticed the Gulikit just seems to have slightly better materials, especially with the plastics. IF YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR STICKS, DON'T EVEN HESITATE, JUST GET THESE. MY TIPS FOR YOU: - For installation, YouTube search "gulikit steam deck oled joystick replacement" and follow both iFixit and Ghoststrats videos. - 8 screws to remove for the rear plate, 3 screws holding each joystick. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE the heat plate. - BE VERY CAREFUL with the ribbon cable and the ribbon cable holders. The holder - it simply flips up and snaps down very subltely you can barely notice. When reinstalling the ribbon on the new Gulikit sticks, be sure to push in the ribbon firmly but gently forward to flush before flipping down the holder. - DO NOT PUT BACK ON THE REAR COVER UNTIL you've tested the sticks on the Steam Deck controller settings! I messed up on the rear ribbon being flush *See tip before this one* on one stick and readjusted and both sticks work gorgeously. Hope this review helps. Install and enjoy your Steam Deck!

Annoying clicking in one of the joysticks, otherwise fine
Only issue was the right joystick clicked CONSTANTLY whenever I moved it to the lower right area or back and forth horizontally. If you have this issue, pop open the steam deck and gently smooth the wire down. You don't need to manipulate it or apply a lot of pressure, just gently smooth it back a few times with your thumb until its tucked away from the front of the joystick and closer to the side. Test it again and see if you need to smooth the wire again before putting back together. Otherwise it's worked fine as a pair of new replacement joysticks with no soldering (huge plus imo and why I gave it 5 stars lol)

Identical to stock, but Hall Effect
Initial Review: This review is being written the day of getting these, and I'll try to update it occasionally every few months or so (or if something goes wrong). So far, they've been great! The sticks appear identical to the OEM units (especially compared to my sticks, which have gotten a little worn over time), and fit into place very easily. Calibration was fairly simple with external instructions; the ones listed on here aren't very clear, but watching videos of others installing theirs helped. My sticks were actually pretty well-calibrated out of the box, so pressing the calibration button once or twice and using Valve's own thumbstick_cal tool worked great. They're very stable, with no clicking noise like others have reported (I made sure to route the cable properly ahead of time). Since they're hall effect there should be no drifting in the future; again, I'll update things if that changes. Overall would recommend!

Large upgrade over stock sticks
Noticeable improvement over the stock sticks. I replaced both since the original OLED right stick developed serious stick drift. The installation was simple following the ifixit guide video. I already had a T6 bit and spudger on-hand. I also ran into the Steam button not working after install problem but after making sure the TS cable was secured into the port the issue went away. This was a bit tricky as the connector is very tiny and it took a few tries to ensure it was snug. Using the calibration button on the back of the joystick module along with the calibration in game mode worked well. To further dial these in I went into desktop mode, opened console, and typed thumbstick_cal and followed the prompts and then went back into game mode and that allowed me to further lower the deadzones to almost zero. Very pleased with these and would recommend.

Good product
Worked good until I got in peak, and it kept moving me to the left, could probably make it work if I tried a little harder.

Okay, but not great.
The set I recieved were okay-ish. They felt worse than the original ones made by Valve. The left one made a popping noise everytime you moved it. And they both felt more gritty and rough than the originals as well. If you don't have stick drift, then I would just not buy these.

Installs well and feels great
These are a great replacement for a busted joystick on a handheld gaming system. I bought a IFixIt kit to help with installing the joysticks and it was extremely easy to do and much cheaper than the company had quoted (albeit a scary experience for a first timer). So far I haven’t had any issues with the joystick and can barely tell the difference between the original joystick and these. The biggest thing is to pay attention to a good step by step instruction manual. Plugging in all the necessary cords is definitely necessary. It’s been a few months and the sticks are still in good condition. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and find the joysticks to be quite good. Overall it’s a good value for the price.
