I tested this product out on a full moon and a moonless night. For the most part it does the job well. I could see fairly well at a distance of 35 ft. Yes I measured. Every 10 feet afterwards, was slightly out of focus. I measured as far as 100 ft. On a full moon that I tested it oh, I could see that far. 100 ft. So yes of course any light source will greatly enhance your ability to see. These are still great night vision goggles. In the front you have a focus dial for clearing up some pictures. In the back it's nothing more than a digital stream. It does come with a strap to put around your neck. They are some buttons on the top for changing some settings. I believe it took up to six double a batteries. And make sure you have at least about a 32GB micro SD card. You can take pictures of what you're looking at and video as well. Again everything depends on your settings. If I can come back to this review oh, I will post the pictures of the things I took during a full night and a moonless night.

Boating on one of the Great lakes can sometimes bring challenges. Our boat is equipped with radar, but doesn't identify channel markers very well. Using spotlights to maneuver brings a lot of bugs and is not very convenient. When using the night vision binoculars, we knew exactly where to be and were able to avoid bugs. They are very easy to adjust and understand, as well as taking pictures. This is just one of the many uses I can recommend for this. There is little fatigue in long term use. And pretty well priced for what you get.

These NVG are very good value, and provide a great product to play outside with. Best views were of open vistas with large objects several hundreds of yards away, e.g. a row of town houses across a golf course, or mid-sized objects several tens of yards away, e.g. a rack of kayaks a few yards down a trail, or small objects on a very clear background e.g. Canada geese floating on a wide creek. What you could barely make out with the naked eye shows up quite well. Where the performance is less functional is looking at a very busy scene at quite close range, e.g. at the woods from a camping spot or a few yards down the trail from where you are standing (several 10s of yards is fine). The field of view is so tiny that it is hard to interpret what is being seen in the viewfinder versus where the NVGs are aimed. The IR can be seen from head on, so a person might guess that you are observing them. Overall good to play with at the camp ground and entertain young people with. Not really a functional tool.

The media could not be loaded. What a gadget! Simple and powerful pretty much sums it up. I picked this up to do some night "surveillance" for hunting and was really impressed. I could never afford one of the real fancy scopes and thought this one might just work, can't go wrong and you can send it back if sub-par. Nope, really nice unit, very clear display, as a matter of fact it shows super clear in the display and the pictures were not that great but I think I have to get a little more familiar with it and do some fine tuning. The IR is crazy powerful, on on of the lower settings I was able to "light up" a tree line 75 yards away. Now if there was a critter out there you are going to know it. I posted a video of my dog, he was probably 50ft away, then you see turning off the IR and just using light gathering. To the naked eye it was pitch black, but the camera picked up light from some of my wife's accent lights to actually light up enough to see around. I'll be honest, did not even read the directions yet. It comes with a micro SD card but no batteries, takes 6 AA. Control buttons are plenty big and easy to hit and do what you need to without looking. Comes with a neck strap too, they have you pretty well covered. Can't wait to play some more as we check out some fields.

I purchased this on a whim during the amazon deal days and thought it might be useful. The product arrived nicely packaged and as advertised. I added the batteries and it powered right up and operated perfectly. The directions were easy to follow and the storage case is well padded. If your expecting to see night vision like in the tv and movies at this pricepoint then you would be dissappointed. This is set up more like a decent security camera with infared capabilities. The advantage is this is handheld and can also take snapshots and video too. If you want to see whats creeping around in your yard at night these do a good job of enhancing the darkness. I'm satisified at this point with the product.
