  • I tried them for 10 months. When a component "fell" onto the component beneath it. . .
I purchased two of these units for my vintage stereo equipment. One will be placed in our living room, and the other will be placed in a bedroom. There were additional parts sent with the unit (see photo) and I'd rather have additional parts than not enough! I did NOT use any wood glue on the screws; I hope it is sturdy enough to hold my heavy stereo equipment. I gave it a 3 because I had to drill extra holes (what if you don't own a drill?) Overall, I'm okay with it. The glass arrived unbroken (that's a plus), and the particle board-masonite seems strong enough. Make sure you do NOT over-tighten the screws. It would be easy to strip them. You get what you pay for. I'd give it a 5/5 if I didn't have to drill my own holes for the coasters. Photos show vintage equipment, instructions with extra left-over parts, back of cabinet, and front of cabinet. Update: The company reached out to me, before I put my 2nd-unit together and offered a full-refund of the purchase price. I thought this was extraordinarily gracious, but told them "No. Needed to drill some holes does not warrant a return of merchandise (they did not ask me to return it), nor does it warrant a complete refund. Wow. HOWEVER, my 2nd unit still had the same issues: 8 holes drilled on bottom for securing the wheels and 2 holes drilled for upper middle magnet. Lots of extra parts. (That's okay, better to have more screws than not enough (see photo). But both cabinets came with two metal "clips" that I have no idea where they go. (see photo) with only two of these per set-up, not sure where to put them. They are not demonstrated on the instruction sheet either. Also, the instruction sheet needs updated. Part #5 (base of unit) is held on with 4 large screws, not the locking screws. Overall 4/5 stars because of amazong customer service. Addendum May 19, 2024. One of the other reviewers mentioned how difficult access to the rear wiring was. I agree. I have found another design defect: the shelves rest on 4 corner pins and slide forward very easily. Without a notch on the underside of the shelf, moving my 40 lb. Receiver caused the shelf to slide forward and the rear of the receiver fell down to the under level potentially damaging the receiver, the shelf, and the CD player on the 2nd shelf. Do NOT move your components in or out WITHOUT HOLDING THE SUPPORTING SHELF IN PLACE! I drilled multiple 2 inch holes all over the rear Masonite to make it easier to access the rear wiring. Not ideal, but it was a pain to hook all the components. I had to do something. See new photos. New Update: 1/27/2025: This past weekend, I removed all my stereo equipment from both stereo racks. The inability to access the rear of each component, even AFTER I'd drilled 2" holes and fit the racks with grommets is, simply unbearable. Further, the housekeeper, when rolling the rack, on a tile floor, was enough (moved it about 6" to clean), to cause the cabinet shelves to move side-to-side and cause the stereo receiver to collapse onto the component below (amplifier). There is about 1/8" air-gap between the shelves and the right/left sides. I bought another rack, with rollers, from another vendor, and will be giving these away (with warnings) or sending them to the dumpster. I replaced all the provided shelf (plastic) holding-pens with the steel pins advertised, here, on Amazon, as I mentioned before the shelves move side-to-side and front-back as the tolerances are simply not secure/safe enough to hold your expensive gear. Here's what needs to be done to fix the issues: (1) make sure the holes are pre-drilled properly for the rollers/casters, make the shelves 1/4" wider, make the plastic tabs larger to hold the shelves, redesign the rear of the unit so access to component connections can be done easily, use glue to put the unit together. I tried them for about a year...really wanted them to work because it's a nice looking unit--but it simply does not provide a safe haven for your components. If the company reaches out and offers I refund, I'll accept. But, I'm past a warranty stage. ... show more

  • Now That It's Assembled I Like It
The assembly instructions missed a couple of points and was left to invent a solution. This happened on two occasions. First, the door magnet the instructions indicated 4 pre-drilled screw holes, there were only two. What complicated this is that two metal plate spacers were included but not mentioned in the instructions. Those spacers were also not drilled. The second issue were the screws to fasten the wheels to the base. The picture on the instructions indicates that bolts were to be used to fasten the wheel mounting plate to the base of the cabinet. Instead, the hardware pack only provided screws. Given that the cabinet is made from mdf fiber board (kind of like glued sawdust) screws would not stand the test of time and strip out. A trip to Orange Box provided the 16 necessary fasteners--1" nut, washer, and bolt at an additional cost of $6. Unfortunately HD only had 3/4, too short, and 1" too long. So out comes the hack saw. Also had to drill holes for the bolts. The wood surface had some blemishes which Amazon provided a price adjustment or return/replace option. Once it was assembled and av components installed I like it. Particularly the wheels which permit movement of equipment for cleaning or maintenance. A little pricey but today what isn't. Brandon did that. ... show more

  • nice finish
Great unit plus it's not easy to find one with wheels!

  • Awful, not worth the money.
Very poor quality. Screws were too short to be tightened with cams making the unit unsteady. All the holes were not pre-drilled. Purchased this unit for vintage stereo equipment. After assembling the unit left it overnight with nothing in it. At 3:45 in the morning the interior shelves came crashing down! Before installing any of the stereo equipment went to Home Depot and purchased 8 sets of 4 black L bracket sets. Installed them under the shelves, and on the outside corners of the unit. Let it stand for a few days empty, then installed my vintage turntable on the top shelf. Let it stand for a few more days and then installed some of my albums. Went to position the unit and the wheels are too small to move the unit. Now have to remove everything, purchase better wheels and reinstall everything again. This unit was only purchased for my second vintage turntable to have a top shelf and album storage. As seen from the photo the other unit is housing many heavy vintage components with absolutely zero issues. Sad that company no longer makes that stand. Highly recommend NOT wasting your money on this audio stand. ... show more
