  • To tighten the vice, turn the handle in the usual way. As soon as the handle is turned in the opposite direction, the screw is disengaged and the front jaw slides freely. No springs, levers or bars.
  • A very useful feature in repetitive work situation for holding different size pieces. Manufactured from close grained grey cast iron these robust vices have accurately machined housings for smooth sliding movement and true parallel action free of side or cross movement.
  • Vice jaws are equipped with a TOE IN feature When fully closed, the jaws meet only at the top to provide even clamping on the whole depth of the work piece.
  • The steel main screw has Buttress threads for smooth, accurate and responsive adjustment. Body and sliding jaw have provision for attaching wooden liners to protect the vice,work piece and working tools.

Description

GROZ 39011 7-Inch Rapid Action Wood-Working Vise. Constructed of heavy-duty cast iron. The jaw is 7-inch wide with an 8-inch max opening. The main screw has buttress threads with chrome-plated dual slide bars. This vise features a unique rapid action handle. To engage rapid action, rotate the handle the normal way to tighten. Then turn the handle in the opposite position to freely move the front jaw. Designed for repetitive jobs that may have different sizes. Pre-drilled holes to mount under the workbench.

This vice is working perfectly for what I need it for. It's small enough that I can use it on my little workbench and versatile enough that I can move it as needed. Seems to be strong, but I do use 2 C-clamps to make it a bit more solid. Overall, a decent purchase.

Perfect for those times I need to plane, or route, the edge of a short board, without having to drag out my 'WorkMate' and set it up. Added 1/2" pine facings to the jaws that extend 1/2" out from the top and sides. With the toe-in of the jaws, the grip on the work piece is solid. The clamping screw holds tight to the workbench. And the vice is wide enough at the base to keep it from spinning out of parallel with the bench edge if side force is accidentally applied. I was a little concerned when I first naught this but it's been great. I can clamp it right to my existing workbench and move it as needed. It also has mounting holes for a more permanent mounting. The 6 inch jaw is great for wider boards. The parellel bars make it easy to lay wood flat in the vise. If you're doing light wood working and need a table vise I highly recommend ... show more

I bought 2 pretty handy I mounted them on each end of my shop work table. I did drill out the factory holes for bigger screws to attach them with. They seem to be the perfect size for what I need them for. Not super heavy duty by any means. If you need a third hand, need to hand plane items, clean up a mortise etc. this works. This is a well designed and well made wood vise. It's not for banging out auto parts or breaking rusted parts free, it's for holding wood. Add 2 permanent softwood jaws and you still have a 3" opening. Since I don't have space for a full time installation, the clamp on feature is perfect for me.
