I got into gardening a little too late into the pepper growing season this year, but I was heck-bent on growing some shishitos. The only way to do that so late in the year was to do it indoors. With my limited (nonexistent) experience and seeds in hand, I took to the internet to figure out what I could do to make this possible. This grow light popped up several times in different forums and YT videos as being affordable and effective for small spaces, so I took the leap. I'm so glad I did. The literature included was very helpful with instructing me on how bright the light should be and for how long depending on the stage of growth. Set up was also a breeze. I love the dimming knob, though it does not turn the light all the way off. The power supply up top does not become too hot, but I would still practice caution when in that area. Since there isn't a timer built in, I've found purchasing a timer for the socket super helpful to make it a tad more foolproof for when I am not home or in case I just forget to turn in on/off. I have been using this grow light for a little over three months now and have had no issues with it. My shishito is thriving and the yields are almost overwhelming, though I'm not sure if I can give credit for that solely to the light. Surface of the sun bright; thank heavens for the dimmer. It is slightly but comfortably warm directly under the light. Quality product. Love it. I just ordered a second one to daisy-chain and turn my multi-tiered plant stand into a mini-greenhouse for this year's veggie starts. I bought this just for seedlings, but I will probably use it over the summer for rooting cuttings, and next winter for some orchids that prefer more light than my windowsills provide. From what I have seen after doing a fair amount of research, this is the best watt per dollar quantum board style light available in early 2021 (without ordering straight from china). The build quality is excellent, the heat fins on the light backing are sturdy and they keep the lights nice and cool, plus the adjustment knob is a great improvement over a screw driver. At the lowest setting, the light draws 24.3 watts and turned all the way up it draws about 205. On the downside, the chips and driver are lower end, instead of the Samsung lm301 chips and Meanwell driver, Viparspectra uses Sosen drivers and unidentified 3rd party LED chips. The light it gives off is still pretty good, though other reviews suggest you get more for your electricity with the real deal Samsung LED's. Annoyingly, the added IR spectrum they brag about is a whopping 2 (two) IR chips, putting off only a few tenths of a watt. Also, the driver runs very hot when the knob is turned above 75%, and too hot to touch at full blast, even with a fan blowing right on it! I had to add an extra heat sink to keep it cooler. Honestly for the price there's not much to complain about, I took off one star because viparspectra seem to be trying to keep people in the dark about what kind of parts they use by not listing them and by not disclosing the type of spectrum their light produces by not providing an actual list of the diodes on the board. ... show more

I'm using this light for orchids in my basement. I was really impressed with this light- I have two other SpiderFarmer lights, and this one is just as good if not better. It's able to be daisy-chained and it's got a dimming feature, which is fantastic, because you don't have to dink with raising or lowering if you don't want to. The packaging was also very well done, and the light feels and looks very well made. The PAR/PPFD charts that come with the light are also spot on when compared with the values of my own PAR meter.
