  • Pleasantly Surprised
I have used battery powered tools for several years. The battery has always been the weak link.. However, the difference from 10 years ago to now is nothing short of amazing. I understand that changing to a brushless motor design has made more efficient use of the available battery power but this mower is just plain better in 'almost' every way. I mowed my "average sized" yard on one 4.0 AH battery. I had purchased a 5.0 AH 'after market' battery just in case but I doubt I will ever need more than one to mow the entire lawn. Pluses & Minuses Plus - More than adequate power to mow the lawn - QUIET! This is a joy to operate as far as noise goes. It isn't any more noisy than a large fan. - No gas, no oil, and vertical storage. When I'm done mowing I can stand this thing on its backside and clean the underside of the deck with a garden hose. Don't have to worry about gas or oil leaking out. I leave it standing outside for an hour or so while it dries. Then back into the garden shed.. ready for the next time out. - Choice of bag, mulch, or side discharge. The first couple of times mowing with it, I'm using the bag. I'm thinking that maybe every 3rd to 5th time I mow, I'll do the mulching mode but by bagging frequently, I don't get the buildup of dead grass, requiring power raking, etc. And, living in south Texas, we get to mow pretty much all year long. Minuses - I don't have very many. I had read reviews by folks that said the battery was nearly impossible to get out once inserted. I can assure you that the mower I received does NOT have that issue. I'm guessing Greenworks have resolved the issue somewhere along the way. - It seems like, when the unit is standing vertically, Greenworks may have thought the top or front edge of the deck needed a handle. There are finger grooves formed in the front edge molding.. but it isn't deep enough to actually get a grip on. Maybe they just wanted a scalloped front edge appearance and it isn't an attempt at a handle..? I don't know but it isn't really necessary either way. That's about it.. That's all I can say that might be considered a negative. UNRELATED TO GREENWORKS - The rest of this review is aimed squarely at Amazon. NOT Greenworks. I ordered this mower on a Sunday afternoon. It was listed as 'Prime' and I am a Prime members. I did not receive the mower until Friday.. FIVE working days after I ordered it. When I finally did receive it, the box was torn open on one end. I wasn't here when it was delivered by UPS so I couldn't reject it or inspect it before accepting it. When I got the box open, all of the miscellaneous parts (Charger, one battery, and small pack of hardware) were loose and bouncing around inside the box. The individual small boxes these items had started out in were crushed and useless. There was cosmetic damage to the front of the motor housing and the side of the one battery was pretty scratched up. Also small rips in the material that makes up the bag. None of this impaired the machines ability to do what it was designed to do. Also, in addition to the parts bouncing around inside the box, apparently the 2.5 AH battery that was supposed to come with it, was not there. I tried the "return or replace parts" feature with Amazon but was directed to contact Greenworks directly. I filled out their contact form on-line but have yet to hear anything back from them. Hopefully they take customer service more seriously than this in the future. Overall I am quite happy with the mower and how it works. We'll see how long it will last with all the plastic it uses in lieu of quality metal parts.. time will tell. ... show more

  • Amazing!
I’ve been thinking about buying an electric lawn mower for 10 years. 5 years ago when my gas mower broke I seriously considered getting one but chickened out and bought another gas mower. Last week when my latest gas mower broke, I considered fixing it, but started researching the latest electric lawn mowers and came across this one and went for it. I’m so glad I did. It has been simply incredible. It feels and looks like a gas mower. I find it actually a lot easier to push than my gas mower did. It’s not self propelled but the wheels are big enough to make it easy to push even through somewhat tall grass. I bought a second, third party, battery just in case it was needed. My front yard is rather large and my backyard is smaller. I get all of the way through the front yard and about 80% through the back yard. The battery lasts a lot longer than I was expecting. I pop the second battery in and finish up. I suppose if I only had one battery I charge it again and finish but I’m an impatient person. Things I like: 1. Easy to push 2. Battery is easy to put in and take out(some people have said they’ve had issues, but I haven’t had any. Just push the button on the battery and pull up) 3. One lever adjust all the wheel heights 4. No Gas! 5. No Oil! (Even though I suspect after a year or so, I’ll put some WD40 on the wheels Things I don’t like: 1. Nothing I can find so far. ... show more

  • Easy, Quick and Quiet
It was an eye opener to use this, our first electric cordless mower. No more having to run to get gas from the station and work pulling that cord to struggle to start the gas mower (repeatedly when it would stall over some areas of grass). First yard mowing my son used it as he wanted to own the project having assembled the mower (assembling the handle). Didn't finish the yard (1/4 acre) on one charge but he was a little inefficient in his approach. Second yard mowing I knocked it out in one charge. I read reviews that it was important to watch the grass height as running it thru higher grass would make the motor work harder and run down the battery quicker. I have thick centipede and needed to adjust the deck height (which is incredibly easy) but then the mower cut the grass quickly and evenly and it looked great. It's a good looking mower. Not self propelled but not bad to push. The one thing I've noticed is the cutting deck does not extend between the front wheels all the way so it is difficult to get the grass cut close to objects you approach that direction. Very cool to charge for a couple hours and off you go cutting the grass easily, quietly and quickly and I suppose more environmentally friendly (last reason I bought it actually...more so for the ease). ... show more
