*Long review warning, so buckle up* - fyi too, this review will specifically speak to upgrading from a previous Greenworks model in case anyone is in the same boat we were in. Background: I was already familiar and very happy with the Greenworks brand since we purchased their Greenworks 40V 20" Twin Blade Mower, 4.0Ah + 2.0Ah Battery model back in March of 2016. While this mower still works, we've had it for just over 10 years now and it's showing its age with the wear and tear and we needed to replace it. I wanted to stick with Greenworks b/c even though this 10-year-old mower is a bit beat-up, it still runs like a champ, which speaks to the quality put in this thing. Still though, I also wanted to see what their competitors were offering just to cover my bases. After researching, I'm happy to say that Greenworks won out and I landed on the Greenworks 60V 21” Dual-Blade Self-Propelled Lawn Mower with (2) 5.0 Ah Batteries & Rapid Charger model. For the feature set and deal price at the time, it was a no brainer. Gotta say, this thing was quite the upgrade and I couldn't be happier! Comparison: The new model had several features that caught my eye over the old model, which included the self-propulsion, the 5.0 Ah batteries vs the 4.0 Ah batteries of the old model, the 60V vs the 40V power of the old model, the 21" deck vs the 20" deck of the old model, the combined dual-blade system vs the separated dual-blade system of the old model, and the rapid charger. The only thing was a potential con is that this new model has a steel deck vs the plastic deck of the old model, which made the old model about 30 pounds lighter. However, I figured the self-propulsion could compensate for that and it definitely does. Even in the 81-degree heat at just 9am with some humidity on top, my first cut with this thing was easier to manage over the old model! Due to the separated dual-blade system, one thing I always had to do with the old model was go over some of the taller weeds twice to get them fully cut down. The first pass would cut them halfway and the second pass would finish them off. Not really a big deal honestly, but figured I'd mention it. With the new model however, one pass knocked those taller weeds down with no problem! Our yard also has a huge tree in front with thick roots that I always had to kind hop the old model over, but with the self-propulsion in the new model, I just turned that joint on and the mower ran right over those. Our house also sits on a small hill, which I have to climb for some of the cut, but that climb was WAY easier with the self-proportion turned on! Our yard isn't large, but it takes about 50-ish mins to cut and even with all the self-propulsion and such I only used up just one battery. For comparison, I'd tap the first battery on the old mower about 35 - 40 mins into the cut before it would switch to the second battery. The new model also gets lower to the ground than the old model too, which means a couple extra trips to empty the bag, but that's a plus in my book for a closer cut. One of the awesome things about the self-propulsion on this model that I wasn't exactly finding in several other electric mowers during my comparison is that you can activate this without activating the blades. This is because it has separate paddles for activating the blades and the self-proportion, which is freaking genius! This is quite nice for situations where you just want to easily move to another spot without cutting. Adjusting the propulsion is also really easy with the variable speed switch on the handle. We had a couple of previous self-propelled gas mowers over the years (before we switched to electric) that were based on how fast you walked behind them, which was a bit of a pain and I definitely didn't want to have to deal with a system like that. Not a problem here! Verdict: Needless to say, I'm quite happy with this purchase! The closer cut, extra power, faster charging, larger deck, and self-propulsion make this well worth the money for me. I love how quiet yet powerful this mower is on dry grass and weeds. So far, I have mowed at least three acres of grass with this mower. Charging is fast and a charge lasts for about an hour and a half each battery. The only thing that this mower can’t handle is dense areas of long grass that haven’t dried entirely. For this reason, next time I intend to start with the mower high and then go down since it only takes a second to adjust the height and starting is instant. I do wish I would have ordered the 80v mower but I can assure you, if you aren’t on five acres like me, you aren’t going to have any issues at all. It cuts like a dream! The self propelled mowing and drive without mowing functions are amazing since I have a long driveway and sometimes have to go a fair distance to mow or pack it in. I love how easy it is to start and that I don’t have to use gas. I also appreciate it folds up small for storage. As far as preservation, I intend to bring my batteries in for the winter. Cold kills batteries. I especially suggest the lawnmower for those who have autoimmune issues or bad joints like me. It’s taken all the pressure off of my body and I don’t end the day feeling like I am dying like I was with my self-propelled gas mower. ... show more

It has allot of power. Love that you can just pull back on a handle and it will pull you up a hill. Fast charging and charge does last a long time.

Works great! The 2 batteries and rapid charger allow me to finish my whole yard! Cuts great, not too heavy and self propelled is wonderful. Has a lever you can go slow to fast also. Best ever! No gas and oil to worry about and quiet too

Great machine...be careful when buying. The presentation was a bit confusing...presenting with a single blade 4.0 battery and having an option for 5.0 batteries. I wanted the 5.0 but realized the mower changed to a double blade model with a single battery charger and not a duel. I hadn't researched that one...tried to cancel until I could (within minutes) and couldn't. But it worked out. Great self propelled feature...it'll pull you uphill. The only issue being it's heavy backing down a steep incline. The grass cutting can only be described as manicured results. The two batteries are enough to mow my entire yard...just over half an acre with hills. The turbo is super powered...only used it to test it. The base speed for the blades goes through moderately thick...even wet grass with ease. Wet grass collects heavily in the mower but its easy to set the mower upright and blow it out. Plastc handles seem durable...and no resistance so they aren't working hard. It's very nice that you can drive it to the garage without engaging the blade when you're done. Recommended. ... show more

Very lightweight for elderly. Just the right size to get through my gates. Blades are sharp and give a clean cut. Not as quiet as read. Have not master the turn to maneuver feom one end to the next.
