I have used old school mask/snorkel set-ups many times. At best they're 'good' but even the expensive ones are rarely 'great'. This thing is great. It takes a little fiddling to get the straps adjusted to the right length but once you get it dialed in it is completely water tight and very comfortable.

I bought one of these because it seemed silly to spend over $50 for something to try to keep my face warm in cold water for early season outdoor swimming--which it does quite well. I bought the larger size after reading reviews. I am right on the edge, as a 5'4", average-sized woman, but I can see how the smaller size likely would have been too tight. Considering I have been in 50-ish degree water, it stays pretty clear, keeps the water out, and probably will actually not fog in "normal" temp water. My only gripe is that I really can't swim hard. Despite the valve looking large, this feels like it has less volume than my lap swimming/normal swim snorkel, and I have to either go slower, or pause and lift it off for a couple minutes to catch my breath--which sucks, in cold water. Of course, it could be that I use more oxygen in cold water, but I have my doubts about that. So, for the price, I really can't complain *too* much

The view with this is great and I can breathe (with your mouth, not your nose as I quickly learned) while enjoying the ocean fishes swimming. It got some ridiculously good buoyancy, so it keeps your head afloat and makes it harder to dive, which isn't too much of a problem. It does keep the salty water out. While this thing is as durable as a tank, note that it's as heavy as one too. If you're traveling with a backpack, you will feel the weight of this mask. If there's one thing I hate about the mask, it's the straps. Why not velcro? The straps are hard to get on your head by yourself.

Bought this to use for our trip to Turks and Caicos and wanted to snorkel on a few reefs on our own. SO GLAD we went with this style! Honestly its a game changer - the ability to breathe normally was AMAZING. We could see so much with the wide view, and even diving down was no issue. We could swim for 30 minutes before it started getting foggy with your breath, which at that point we took a break anyway. Didn't use the anti-fog spray so can't tell if it would make a difference. Do yourself a favor and ditch the old style this was excellent, especially for the price!

This mask is an excellent concept, great visibility & virtually no steaming up are a plus but what REALLY works is resurfacing and not having a tube you have to clear before breathing again…this unit prevents water from filling the integrated snorkel in the first place! My one gripe is the hinge point of the snorkel itself, it seems to protrude quite a bit, digging into my head a bit. I got the large, and I think the XL would prevent a good deal to the face, so it is what it is. It doesn’t adversely effect the function, but I would probably use it for longer periods if that hinge wasn’t so noticeable over time.
