We purchased this for our workout/guest room. The room has carpet and I didn't want to mess the carpet up with tennis shoes. I was between this size and the smaller size. I'm glad we went with this one because it fits perfectly in the room. The mat is durable and has enough cushion, but not too much. It does not slip on the carpet or roll up while doing exercises. We do HIIT and weights on the mat and seems to be holding up well, we've had it for about 2 months now. I have had this large mat for about a week now and I wanted to test it before I wrote anything. This was actually my second order. USP lost the first one after it was out for delivery. Who knows what happened to it. So after I contacted the seller and Amazon I got a refund for that one and quickly placed a second order for this one. Sadly the 1st one was for $119.95 and when I came back to this one it had already gone up to $138.91 (not sure why). It was still the cheapest I could find on this size. Smaller ones 6'x5' were $146 and up. This one was larger, just what I needed and since the seller indicated he would refund, I just thought "why not?" the loss of the original order is UPS fault, not the seller. I have used it for about a week for PiYo, my apartment has carpet (which I hate) and the regular yoga mat simply did not help because it doesn't cover enough space, so I was slipping around. I had previously bought the ones that interlock but I destroyed those (really I did, I somehow kept landing exactly at the interlocking part and it just broke. So I needed something that was large enough for a plank and a good stretch of the legs without having to move around to keep my feet inside the yoga mat to not slip. THIS IS PERFECT! I put it 'circles down' (you'll see when you get it) and smooth side up. It does not slip around in my carpet, and it is not slippery to my bare feet! I do clean it after each workout. Now I did slip around the very 1st time I exercised on it and worked up a good sweat. But it hasn't happened again. I'm actually able to do my workouts better because I don't have to use strength to not slip around in my carpet or to adjust my position halfway so my feet are always inside the yoga mat. There is a slight rubber smell when you first open it, but it has since gone away and it's been only a week. Plus, like I said, I clean it after each workout. This May is heavily built - it’s both heavy and movable. It is grippy for agility work but soft enough for yoga! Do yourself a favor, buy the mat - you’ll love the space!

No words for how much I love, love, love my matt! I literally use it daily! I searched and searched for a mobility matt to fit my ultra tall 6'3" frame and I have found it <3 I was hesitant to spend this amount of money on a mat, but I am so overjoyed with it and pleased each and every time I use it. I take it with me in my car too! I just fold the seat down and place it in the back and it works! The only reason I took off a star is because I have used it sooo much that the straps that hold it together actually snapped and I had to sew them back together by hand. I was disappointed by this because this should not be the case when the mat itself is such high quality and the price I payed for it was an investment in my mobility as a weightlifting athlete. Other than this, I have no reservations about paying the high price I did. More than fits its intended use. Never do I slip or slide and it is plenty big enough for my amazon length. True love after using it for about 6 months now and treating it with utmost care (never high impact, although I am sure you could) and cleaning it regularly. Such joy this mat is. I am just sorry to have discovered it so late! LOL Update: nearly 2 years later I still love my mat. However, the straps that hold it together have fallen apart. Gorilla needs to solve this problem. For now I have resulted to using small bungee cords to hold it together. I still take it with me nearly everywhere so it gets daily use. I am considering ordering another for my home so I don’t have to pack and unpack it from my car. Love my mat! ... show more

I use this mat for stretching and exercise on a carpeted floor. I have no issues with slipping on the mat, however the mat would not stay still on the carpeted floor. I ended up putting Velcro around the perimeter of the mat, and it has not budged since. This mat is very large and easy to do exercises without having to worry about stepping off the mat. The mat is an ideal thickness, not so thin that there is not enough padding yet not so thick that it’s hard to balance when doing stretches or poses. This is not a mat that you would want to carry around to work out at different locations. It is heavy and it is very large. But it is ideal for a set location where you plan to work out often. I use this for Muay Thai and stretching. Was thinking about getting those mats that connect together, but needed something that I could put away with ease when needed. This option wasn't cheap, but not expensive, either, for what you get. The thickness is good and it does not slide all over the place--maybe after about ~20 minutes of activity it will slide half an inch--but maybe that's my cue to lose some pounds. Really good product.
