This is a quality travel umbrella. The brand is Gorilla Grip, and indeed the handle doesn't feel like those cheap flimsy ones you grab on the sidewalk in NYC. It comes with a carrying sleeve and pops up and expands with the press of the button --- BONUS feature - click the same button and the canopy retracts!! You still have to pull down till it clicks into position, but this is a pretty nifty function that I haven't seen before. So far I am pleased with this umbrella!

Wow! I'm really impressed with this umbrella. As soon as you get it you can tell it's sturdy because it has girth compared to other umbrellas. It's 7 1/4 inches in circumference folded up in the sheath. That sounds big but it still fits comfortably in your hand. It's nice and compact at 11 1/2 inches so it's easy to carry. This umbrella means business! It's very sturdy as far as the structure. The handle is 2 3/4 inches and is made of a thick plastic with little pits to give you a good grip. There is a button with up and down arrows on the handle that operates the open and close functions and this umbrella operates VERY fast! I've never had an umbrella that closes at the push of a button so this was a new experience and I wasn't quite prepared for how quickly the umbrella head closes. After closing the umbrella head you just slide it down the shaft until it snaps. I really like the automatic closing feature. The umbrella is so sturdy it took a minute to get it back into the sheath but it tucks in nicely for storage until needed. I was a little disappointed in the handle. It's called a Gorilla Grip and the handle is a little smoother than I thought it would be. It would have been nice to have a rubberized grip on the handle because when it's raining if the plastic handle gets wet it can get slippery. The handle itself could have been designed a little longer, it's kind of short but over-all it's a fabulous umbrella with a heavy duty structure on the umbrella head and the material is nice and deflects water. I'm giving this umbrella five stars for performance and innovation.

I got the blue colored umbrella, and the color is nice change to the typical black colored umbrella that I several of. When the umbrella is collapsed and the handle at it's shortest length, the umbrella is about 11.5 inches log. When you press the button on the handle, the handle extends out and the umbrella opens up. Pressing the button again, just collapses the umbrella but leaves the handle at full extension (so you have to manually push down on the top of the umbrella to compress the handle down to it's shortest length). The construction of the umbrella is nice and seems sturdy. I'll have to definitely update this review when there are strong winds with rain to see how it handles, since poorly made umbrellas tend to turn inside out when the winds are strong enough. The black handle has a bunch of little circular dimples, and the surface is smooth and not grippy. I did a quick test and tried holding on to the handle with a wet hand, and surprisingly the handle was not slippery. Compared to the handles of my other off-brand umbrellas, this umbrella handle is about the same size. Overall, it's a nice and compact umbrella.

I've had an umbrella or two in my time, all the way back to the ones with the thin aluminum ribs, to this one. This is probably the highest quality and sturdiest umbrella I've ever had. Now I have never purchased expensive umbrellas, so I can't say if others are better - but the ones I've typically picked up at dollar or discount stores can't hold a candle to this one. It automatically opens AND closes, it's very compact when closed, and you can operate it to open OR close, at least enough to get it collapsed, with only one had. Getting it pushed back in, after its collapsed, requires quite a bit of pressure - but you only need to do that when you're ready to put it back in your purse or under the seat or wherever you store it. It's a very nice umbrella - large enough to cover two people if you walk closely. Very pretty red color. The materials used are not cheap - it's a high quality item. Recommended - five stars.

Comes exactly how it looks. Comes with a protective sleeve case. I got black. Has a good sized handle for children and or adults to hold comfortably. The awning covers well both adults and children. It’s going to be small bc it’s meant for travel and pocket but it does cover nicely. We place this in my daughters school bag so she has an umbrella if needed when getting off the bus for an emergency. Has a nice string loop to carry and hold. We love it. Haven’t used it yet during any crazy rain or storms so not sure the durability but for the basic rain fall it does the job well. Easy open and close my daughter can do it. Update: had a rain pour bad this morning and It didn’t really hold up to the wind. Five mins into a windy rain storm it flew backwards inside out so I had to flip it back. So much for tolerating and withstanding the wind. It has two arrived buttons. To open press the up arrow and it automatically opens. To close it press the down arrow and then press the pole down into itself to make it short again!

Decent quality, auto open, auto close umbrella in the 10-12 dollar price range. If you want a super compact or windproof double canopy umbrella, it will cost in the 20-25 dollar price range. Let's be realistic here. The blue sky, cloud fabric is the bonus icing on the cake. Come on now, don't you have enough boring black umbrellas in the closet? Rock out this sky blue, poofy cloud umbrella on a rainy day. Live a little. Hah!
