I used one of these for my yard. Connects easily to my outside spigot. You have to put the reel together but the instructions are pretty easy to follow. You can have it built in ~20 minutes. It has wheels, so you can move it around but how much will you be wheeling it around if the connecting hose is only ~6 feet long? I just use the wheels to move the thing out of the way a couple feet if I need to get by the pool equipment in my yard. This is the first hose reel holder I've used that is durable, does not rust, is sturdy, and works well to reel up the hose. It's easy to reel with the handle on the top. It doesn't bend on the wait of a filled hose. The aluminum body is awesome, especially tolerating chlorine in the air (near the a pool). There are different sizes. I have the 150' and 200' ones. They look good and helped me organize my hose which was thrown on the ground. ... show more

If you're concerned about different metals connecting you'll need to buy an adapter from Gorilla which they advertise on their site. Not sure why it's so hard to find an aluminum to brass adapter so you don't have galvanic corrosion. I would recommend using plumbing tape if not so you save yourself the headache when removing it for the winter. The device is easy to assemble and holds a lot of hose, the guided reel does a decent job but may need help to reel the hose on correctly without all bunching to one side or tangling up. The actual reeling motion is very smooth and doesn't have any play like you'll get with the plastic versions. ... show more

I ordered this in August and didn't get it until mid Ocotober. Had the opportunity to cancel the order but decided to wait it out. When it got here finally, I was impressed with several things: 1. The metal frame was very sturdy 2. The ease of assembly 3. The brass fittings for the supply line as well as for the main hose. Especially liked how they had the connection angled and then a way to clamp the beginning of the main hose. 4. Customer service when I did have a problem. The bolt to attach the handle for winding up the hose had the nut on crooked and when I forced it off, I damaged the threads. Got the replacement bolt in a week. When I finally got the handle installed and used it to roll up, it was the smoothest I have ever had. Yes, you need to guide it by hand, but other hose reels I have had over the years, even those with a guide, usually needed some manual "help" when winding it up. I can believe this is a hose reel I will have for a long time and won't be looking for a replacement every few years ... show more

Took me about three hours to assemble. Doesn’t come with assembly instructions, just diagrams. Very well made. Only complaint is that it scoots around when you are winding up the hose.

I've only had this for a few months, but it seems very well built and should last a number of years. It operates very smoothly. Requires a little bit of setup but was easy. It sure beats the heck outta the plastic one it replaced from a big box store that was overpriced. I recommend it.

The product came packed securely with all the required hardware and tools needed to put it together. It has a sturdy solid feel with aluminum and plastic designed to work together appropriately. The brass fittings and heavy duty hose that comes with this product show this to be a rugged and dependable hose reel. My belief is that this product rates in the top two or three percent of hose reels based on the design, materials, and workmanship. Some products scream "cheap" by their very appearance but this is NOT one of them. There are a few improvements that could be incorporated into the instructions. For example, the assembly instruction manual says nothing about the gorilla icon on the hose reel but there is a cardboard piece zip tied to the main assembly with these words on it, "Align the Gorilla icon FIRST." Too bad I followed the instructions and didn't look at any cardboard attachments. There is no reason that all appropriate instructions should not be in one place for easy reference and to prevent mistakes. Another improvement area has to do with the tray assembly that's clipped to the bottom. The instructions show WHERE it goes but they do not speak to the fact that there is a front and a back to the tray with clips having different spacings that must be properly connected to the front rear tubes. If you are mechanically inclined you'll see there's something off if you try to put it on improperly but if you're the average person it may frustrate you. In Step 4 where the crank handled is installed the bolt has a reverse thread on it. Nothing about this is said in the instructions. Once again you will be frustrated until you finally figure out that it's set up to thread backwards. All these things can be by updated instructions but I still give this product an extremely high recommendation. I fully expect to last this far, far, beyond the seven-year warranty. In my estimation, it's definitely worth the price. ... show more
