This review is mainly for the Point-and-Shoot Grip (I love the camera itself and would give it 5 stars, I'll give the grip 3 stars so I met in the middle with 4 stars) I love the feel of this grip. It feels very good in the hand. It's very sturdy and feels like my GoPro is well protected. I only have 2 cons. I ended up not even putting the top "shutter button" part on because it doesn't work half the time. It doesn't fully push the top button, and I'm left having to take it off to push the button. But that's not the worst thing. This next con is much more detrimental. The whole side of the rig, including the grip, can come off with just a tap of the bottom corner button, and there's no lock on that like there is for the grip itself. This is very concerning because if I accidentally tap the button with my ring or pinky finger (Because that's naturally where my fingers sit), the whole grip can unattach, and the GoPro can fall off very easily. This seems like a huge design flaw. It's essential to have the side of the case to come off because that's how you'd switch the battery or SD card, but there has to be a locking feature on it so you don't accidentally press it.

Cheap paper all over the camera and bottom with adhesive all over it that you can’t take off all the way. It looks very cheap. The grip is too hard to take off and put back on. Not worth the aggravation

I added the GoPro Mission 1 Pro Grip Edition into my usual workflow and compare it to my DJI Pocket 3, GoPro 10 Black, and my Sony A7rII and A7IV with editing done in DaVinci Resolve. The build quality stands out immediately; it feels bomb-proof, especially when you have the cage on. They made the buttons larger, which is a nice touch for regular use even when you aren't wearing gloves. The included lens hood is a good addition, though it does partially obscure the front display. You also get versatile mounting options depending on how you want to rig it. When shooting video, you get a lot of control over the image. It lets you easily adjust resolutions, frame rate, bit depth, bit rate, shutter speed, and other granular image settings. I really like the preset POV Action setting because it features a specially optimized Hypersmooth setup right out of the box. Having three different presets just for long exposure scenarios is another nice feature that saves time in the field. The camera falls short on a few things, starting with the 50-megapixel photos. When I compare them directly with my iPhone 16 Pro, the GoPro images have muddier colors and lose a noticeable amount of detail right in the center. The wider 159-degree angle takes some getting used to as well. Because there’s a two-foot minimum focusing distance and no macro lens add-on available, it’s far too easy to get slightly too close to your subjects and accidentally throw them completely out of focus. Battery life seems decent but drains noticeably when you start combining multiple high-performance settings (8k, 10-bit, open gate, high bit rate etc). There are also some annoying hardware and software choices you have to deal with. The shutter release lever on the cage is embarrassingly bad, providing next to zero tactile feedback to let you know if you successfully pressed the shutter. You can't attach a 1/4-20 tripod mount when the cage is on, and you have to open the battery door just to charge the device. On the software side, 8k60 and 4k240 are restricted to 16:9 rather than open gate. The Hindsight feature doesn’t activate automatically between shots, so you have to set up a shortcut and remember to tap it every time. To top it off, the Quik app is annoying because it constantly nags you to subscribe to their cloud service. The camera falls short on a few things, starting with the 50-megapixel photos. When I compare them directly with my iPhone 16 Pro, the GoPro images have muddier colors and lose a noticeable amount of detail right in the center. Outstanding Performance in a Thoughtfully Designed Package. After spending a considerable amount of time with the GoPro Mission 1 PRO Grip Edition, I can confidently say that it has become one of my favorite pieces of gear. From the premium packaging to the first recording session, the entire experience feels polished and thoughtfully designed. The camera itself is compact and rugged, while the included grip adds a level of comfort and control that makes a noticeable difference during extended shoots. Whether I’m walking, hiking, or simply capturing family memories, the grip provides a secure hold and significantly reduces fatigue. The video quality is outstanding. Footage is remarkably sharp, with vivid yet natural colors and excellent contrast. Fast-moving scenes remain clear and smooth, and the stabilization does an incredible job of keeping handheld shots looking cinematic rather than shaky.
