I layer a regular mat on top of this mat for yin yoga and restorative which is all on the floor and I need the extra padding. Best thing is the 5x7 size. Tall people rejoice. You can do reclining spine twists or change sides on pigeon without having a body part slide off the mat onto hard floor ... which is a big deal if you’re tall or have joint problems. Great size, and fits perfectly where I need it. NO TOXIC SMELL! I definitely recommend this brand over the Hatha Yoga brand (the large hatha mats are made from TPE- thermal plastic elastomers. The toxic smell never leaves). I wanted the same material as my old mat (pictured) but could never find it in a large size. This one is it! I was so worried when I got this, thought it was going to be super cheap just large, BUT this mat is amazing! It's the perfect firmness. NOT too hard like an exercise mat, but not one of those cheap soft foam mats that create dents and are horrible for your joints. I'm a seasoned practitioner who owns many $200 mats at my own home but I needed a XL mat for multi-purpose movement when I'm at my brother's place that matched his decor. Using this one reminded me of these pro mats my fave studio had - easy to clean, durable, no joint pain. It's not as grippy as natural rubber but close enough.     • Overall a good mat
I purchased this mat to cover the area in my bedroom where I normally work out. My house has wooden floors throughout which makes it rather "loud." My goal was to find something that would fit the space, look good, and provide some sound-proofing. Two out of three isn't bad, I guess. Pros: Fits my 5x7 space perfectly without slipping on the wood floor, feels very durable, easy to brush off debris with dustpan and brush, and looks great. In this respect, it is much better than the memory foam anti-fatigue runner I was using. Cons: It Will show every little bit of dust and debris that one can track around a house so it is a good thing that it can be cleaned easily. It is not as quiet as I hoped it would be. Any sneakers or slippers with rubberized bottoms can be heard. The mat may dampen sounds heard in the basement to some degree, but I hear every footfall I make. It doesn't offer the same soundproofing as carpet or memory foam anti-fatigue mats. So much for hoping. Overall, it is a good workout mat with some limitations. ... show more

I use this mat almost every day for my workouts. It's the perfect thickness for stretching, yoga, bodyweight and band workouts. Would not reccommend for use with weights because they'll tear it up. It's wide and grippy enough for me to do exercises where a regular yoga mat would not do, for example: wide step-climbers, lateral walking pushups, jumping lunges, etc. It's only 8mm (about 5/8ths) thick so keep that in mind. ... show more

I actually purchased this for my senior dogs. I have several sizes throughout my house. I needed them for their traction and non-slip capacity. I also needed something easy to clean (area rugs were no longer cutting it with senior dog accidents). I flipped this one over and used the bottom side on top, just because it seemed a bit easier to wipe down. It is quite comfortable to walk on, my dogs have no issue getting up from them and easy to clean! Good traction, not slippery at all. Got my daughter the dancing game for Christmas, and she was getting sore from the jumps on our uncarpeted floor. She was dancing on a folded up blanket, but that seemed likely to cause a fall. So, I popped for this large mat, allowing her to move around, or to dance with her siblings or friends and they can all fit on together. Had an 11 year old and two 20-somethings dancing together on it and all had enough room for the moves without hitting each other.
