This waterproof inverted umbrella has a solidly built frame, so it has some weight to it. It is more compact than some umbrellas but it is not the most compact that I have seen. I had not heard of an inverted umbrella before. I ordered this because the advertisement said that it was windproof. I have not had any strong wind to try this in, and to test the waterproof feature I had to get someone to spray water over the top of it with a water hose. This umbrella opens either in the standard way or in the inverted form, depending on which arrow you press on the pushbutton. In the inverted form the entire area around the outer rim of this umbrella opens upwards. In the inverted form I felt as though I was standing beneath a flat surface. While it did feel like I had less coverage from the falling water, I stayed dry. It did not take very long for water to collect in the fold made where the outer edge of the umbrella turned upwards. As the weight of the collected water built up, I worried that the umbrella, although well-built, might get damaged, so I decided to tip the umbrella and drain the collected water off of the top. In an actual rainstorm that would have gotten me soaked. In the inverted form this umbrella probably would make it easier to get in and out of doorways. Droplets of water are trapped in the fold and will not fall on the floor as long as the umbrella is held upright. The water does drain off well so it is waterproof as advertised. Learning how to open and close this umbrella before you use it in a storm would be a good idea. I couldn't get it to close for me when it was in standard form, but once it was in the inverted form it closed. I think it's well-built and a good value for the money, but to get the most benefit from it it should be practiced with before being used. ... show more

This umbrella has a lot of great features that work well for such a compact sized umbrella. Size and weight The umbrella is compact with a lighter weight considering the amount of power it holds. On my kitchen scale it weighs just 13.8 ounces. Inverted I have an full size inverted umbrella that works well to keep the water from dripping when I close it to go indoors. This compact size inverted model doesn't work as well. Water will still drip yet definitely not nearly as much as a non inverted compact umbrella. Power The umbrella inflates very quickly with the press of the button. This is very helpful walking around a city going indoors and outdoors several times a day as I do. So far the shape has withstood some mild winds and hasn't flipped inside out. It seems to be steady and keep it's shape well under rainy, mild windy conditions. Folding up Folding up the umbrella you press the power button and it will fold in but you have to push it with some considerable force to get the metal neck of the umbrella compressed down to a fold up position. Overall this is one of the best compact umbrellas I've had. For the amount of coverage and the lightweight compact size it suits my needs of being able to carry and take out on the go. ... show more

The umbrella is remarkably sturdy. Its open and close mechanism operates seamlessly. The skeleton of the umbrella is strong, and pressing the button smoothly opens it up. It provides excellent protection from the rain, as it's quite strong and reliable. The size is perfect for fitting into a backpack without taking up too much space.
