Genuine Apple watch band. Not quite as comfortable to sleep in as the cloth band that my watch originally came with, but this is also much easier to keep clean.

I was hesitant to buy the Ocean band since it seemed to garner the least positive reaction among the three bands that debuted with the Apple Watch Ultra. But for a recent beach vacation, I decided to take the plunge, so to speak, and and splurged on an Ocean Band in the yellow color. (Hey, if you're going to choose a bold band, why stop with the color?) And to my surprise, it has turned out the be my favorite of my three Apple bands for the Ultra. It was far more comfortable than reviews suggested and the chunky design pairs really well with chunky Ultra watch. I saw no reason this couldn't be a daily driver, providing you're happy with one of the three color choices. So what's not to like? Well, A LOT if you have L or XL size wrists. My wrist is more of an M/L size and I typically wear the band on the next to last notch... and sometimes the last notch if I've been active and my wrist is a bit swollen. But for those with L or XL wrists, I don't think the one size of band that's available is large enough. So what about the extension strap that Apple sells? Well, apart from the $49 cost--which would bring your total investment for an Ocean band to $150--the extension strap is double the length of the standard strap... DOUBLE. You can see it in some photos posted by another reviewer. So you go from a strap that's too short to a strap that's WAY too long. Apparently the idea is that you fold all of the excess strap back on itself and into the loop of a second titanium strap holder. Not a big deal if you're wearing your Ultra over a wet suit, but totally impractical for normal use out of the water--you'd be walkiing around with a big clump of folded strap on your wrist. I'm not sure why Apple offers only one size in the standard Ocean Strap and, if you have L or XL wrists, I don't think this band will fit you. But if you're determined to get it, I strongly advise trying it on at an Apple store before parting with your $100. I can't count how many third-party Apple Watch Bands I've purchased over the years, probably upwards of 25-30. Most sit in a drawer and are never used again after the initial purchase. And I don't want to think about all the money I've spent. There's just something about paying the high cost that Apple demands on all their products, especially watch bands, when you can buy something equivalent at 10-20% of the price. The question is, are they genuinely equivalent? After years of 25 to 30 bands (maybe more) and likely $600.00 plus, I've realized that the answer is a resounding, No! The Apple original products are just made better with their detail and materials. They feel better than the knock-offs and last longer as well. It's taken many years and a lot of money going back to my first Apple Series 3 watch. But I've learned that the old adage is true. You DO get what you pay for.
